I am quite surprised to see a vacant trap in this final.
Reason being in the heats a greyhound received the red-card and I would have expected the fastest finishing 4th greyhound in the heats to be promoted.

These types of races are great and give the owners the opportunity to win some decent prize money. I totally agree that a reserve should run.

My Kick On Jet was the quickest qualifier and we'll be speaking to the RO this morning to query why she hasn't been given a run. Surely better than a vacant trap.

'IF' The Belle Vue Grader does not bring in a reserve then what happens to the £100 prize-money that is allocated to this race?

DAVID BRAYSHAW:- I had to query this point myself I must admit. I know that in open race competitions such as the Derby a disqualified greyhound which finishes in a qualifying place is not replaced as per the rules of racing so if a winner of a Derby Semi Final for example was disqualified the Derby final would be a 5 dog race. I had to check what the situation is as far as the Owners Bonus Series as we hadn’t had this situation before but they confirmed to me that the situation is the same and therefore the final as per the GBGB rules is a 5 dog race. As for the £100, we receive a grant for this event From the BGRF (British Greyhound Racing Fund) so now that grant will be for £100 less.
