Romford (above) and Hall Green were the last two tracks to go throughRomford bags final slot as rivals crash By Phil Donaldson of the Racing Post ROMFORD, with two winners on the night, booked the final group-winner’s spot up for grabs in Saturday’s concluding Bags Track Championship South group leg at Wimbledon – but there was agony for Crayford and Sittingbourne who both narrowly missed out on a best runner-up place. Sittingbourne led going into Saturday’s six-leg clash on 167 points from Romford on 163 and were expected to get off to a flier with odds-on favourites Barnfield Bear in the sprint and Designer Cee in the Youngsters clash. But with the pair only picking up six points between them, last year’s surprise finalists were immediately up against it. The six qualifiers for the showdown on Wednesday December 23: Belle Vue, Hall Green, Monmore, Newcastle, Romford and Towcester, will learn their fate on Monday when a neutral venue is announced. Perry Barr, Nottingham and Sheffield have all been suggested, but Bags will confirm its choice for the showdown, which will feature live on Sky Sports. Full story and betting in Monday's Racing Post

TAKEN FROM THE RACING POST.COMPerry Barr: the sport will gather there on the Wednesday before Xmas Perry Barr to host Track Championship Final By Jim Cremin of the Racing Post PERRY BARR is to host the Bags/SIS Track Championship Grand Final on Wednesday afternoon, December 23 – live on Sky Sports. Scott Harvey of Bags announced the decision on Monday morning. He said: “We have consulted with the various qualifiers, and everyone gave Perry Barr a thumbs-up. It’s a fair running track, centrally located, and given the recent wild weather, accessible to all. “It proved a tremendous climax at Wimbledon on Saturday, and Hall Green, watching from the sidelines, edged through as the last qualifier. The rivalry between Monmore and Hall Green is intense, the big guns of Newcastle and Towcester are there, along with Belle Vue and Romford. After last year’s twists and turns on finals day, you wouldn’t rule anything out, and the ten races will make for a fantastic pre-Christmas Sky show.” Perry Barr successfully hosted the final three years ago, when Newcastle were the winners. Harvey added: “We’ve also noted that Matt Howe, the new Racing Post/SIS Manager of the Year, runs the Ladbrokes shop closest to the track, so feel it is appropriate to invite him along to make one of the race presentations.”
