I see absolutely no reason why Carol Evans should not be welcomed back to the track.
She's only based 15 minutes away from the track and is travelling two or three times a week to Perry Barr, which after all is managed by the same suits as Belle Vue.
She is averaging nearly 20 runners a week, with a strike rate of over 21% (thanks to Greyhound Stats UK for that information)
What's not to like?
Surely the only question is whether she will come.

Spot on Wilbur,it's a no brainer..as you say the only question should really be whether she will come. I would hope with the reduction in travelling Carol would come, with winter not too far away it would certainly be handy to have another trainer around the corner from the track

There will be plenty of local trainers who would want to come, the problem is they wont have the amount of dogs in their kennel that bv require.

Jimmy, They have to state 4 meetings a week cover because if this is what's needed, they know they have a trainer that WILL come on all 4 days! Was this not the original arrangement when we had 4 meetings a week - pre 2nd BAGS (Sunday)?
IT is only because this encroached on the Sabbath AND owner kennel visit day that perhaps terms changed.
*They could and perhaps should consider a 4 meetings a week cover on a rotational trainer basis which could perhaps suit all parties - I wouldn't really really know. I do know that some trainers don't like working Sundays, which is their prerogative under current terms.
Perhaps the RO are hoping to grab back a contract biaise for 4 meetings per week again?
If it is a question of "our" survival - what would be the choice if we needed to take on some of the Wimbledon load were this track to follow others and be forced to close its doors?
Would we be ready - and willing to take up any slack, I wonder?
As for new Trainer(s) - In my humble opinion, I consider that we would need at least 3, yes 3 - unless we are terribly lucky to get at least one with a fairly large kennel strength.
Notwithstanding the current crisis - how many have considered that Mr Murray has around 3 dozen dogs on his strength, so what a massive blow this will be IF we don't manage to secure a trainer as mentioned above.
In order to cover this further loss - IMO we would need to cover around 60 dogs in total, which may mean ! Large Kennel, 1 Medium, and 1 or even 2 small trainers to come on board, we would be ready for almost anything, because bet your life - there are changes afoot! Do we really want to be part of collateral damage?

Had a quick look at the advance Friday card and I think, from memory, there were five vacant traps. The quicker we get some new trainers the better.
