So if Ladbrokes, Coral, Hills Betfred, Paddy Power and obviously Betfair who will want the feed from the other side, I seriously fear for the future of some tracks no wonder the trainers were only offered 18 month contracts, and those that signed could have a bleak 12 months ahead.

If, as in the article prior to your post, the bookmakers named take up the SIS feed - surely there is still an issue over just what that content will be? The Bookmakers would have to pay off the remaining 12 months of their current BAGS contract - which involves most if not all of the current MGM Group tracks! It certainly appears at this stage that the SIS tracks would have to "bulk up" their product meetings, which they are in the process of doing - but at what expense in hound welfare? Extra meetings puts extra strain on hounds and particularly if you barely have enough to begin with, so how do they, (SIS), solve the issue of not enough product? Nick some from elsewhere which is why the MGM Group have attempted to shut the door on them with the rapid sign up. No doubt solution(s) will be found and hopefully for both groups individually, or at the very least a getting together for the general good of the industry and much more importantly owners in general. No doubt there is money flying about, but I fear that a winner, if one could call it that would further fragment our industry causing further distress for all our long suffering owners! How long then before it becomes almost a 100% Hound trainer owned industry? This result would surely end in tears and in the long run, the slow sad demise of our sport. Here's hoping for a sensible solution and positive news on all fronts as a welcome Xmas pressie for all. O&U..........

i would take most of the story in tuesday's post with a large pinch of salt, the bookmakers all advertise heavily in the post and any editorial comment is bound to favour the SIS camp which is bookmaker owned. Ladbrokes/Corals via SIS have very little prospect of providing anything like a full service from their 4 tracks and the 4 minnows that have pledged their backing. Bookmakers and the backers and only beneficiaries of RPTV so when Sunderland and Newcastle withdraw as they surely will at the end of their contract then that will stretch the SIS resources even further Henlow,Harlow,Central Park and Doncaster will be providing the bulk of the RPTV service with Romford,Crayford,Monmore and Hove left providing the daytime entertainment. Ladbrokes/Corals are certain to be persuaded by their partners that the RPTV business is too lucrative to sacrifice and will abandon their plans to tear the greyhound industry apart. The likely outcome is that Ladbrokes/Corals will need to take the GMG service and supplement it with a service from their tracks into their own shops as they do at present.

Surely you dont believe SIS will be using the other content, if so why has the track championship been axed as will lots of sky stuff as I see it.. The reason they took central park henlow, doncaster on board was to plug the void all the tracks already talking of one extra meeting a week easily cover it, especially if as I suspect Towcester will dive on board.

There is a bizarre desire amongst a lot of people to want to be the one ' who told us it would close'i remember this being a topic of conversation since I started going in the 80s and hasn't changed a lot since. When that day comes, and let's be honest only Clive Feltahm knows that it will be a very sad day for me and a lot of other people who attend the track twice a week. The on line streamers will be ok they can move on, but for those who like the nights at the dogs it is quite a way to Sheffield...sorry I forgot they are in the crap as well due to being aligned to Bags ! At least after 23 years of marriage I can look forward to seeing the wife on a Friday and Saturday...on second thoughts..get me a map for Monmore.

At this time it looks like team 'SIS' are leading the way.
But I'm sure between now and January it's going to get very interesting.
At the end of the day let's all hope the winner is our wonderful sport of greyhound racing.
ROLL ON 2018...

TAKEN FROM THE GREYHOUND STAR WEBSITE... greyhoundstar.co.uk/ladbrokes-coral-pay-voluntary-off-shore-greyhound-levy/LADBROKES CORAL TO PAY VOLUNTARY OFF SHORE GREYHOUND LEVYGreyhound Star — August 30, 2017 PRESS RELEASELadbrokes Coral have today announced that they will be paying a voluntary levy to greyhound racing based on off shore greyhound turnover from the start of 2018.
The commitment has been made unconditionally and the monies will be directed to the industry via the British Greyhound Racing Fund or through the appropriate funding body as advised by Lord Lipsey’s review into the sport, which is currently ongoing.
Ladbrokes Coral own and operate four tracks Crayford, Hove, Monmore and Romford and this funding is in addition to retail levy and the significant investment in welfare and infrastructure at these tracks.
Commenting on the announcement, Jim Mullen, Ladbrokes Coral Chief Executive said: “We are passionate supporters of greyhound racing. While it may be declining in popularity it is still a much loved and staple part of our offer both in shops and through our digital channels”
“The debate on its funding has been going on for some time and while we have not always agreed that the sport is under-funded, we do recognise that it is time for the industry to move on and start to rebuild the sport.
“We run our tracks to the highest standards of integrity and welfare and hope that this additional funding can help the wider industry join us in the aim of building a better sport and spectacle for the modern day customer.
“We hope this gesture will help Lord Lipsey bring a period of stability to the sport when he produces his findings and that others will follow.”

TAKEN FROM THE GREYHOUND STAR WEBSITE.. greyhoundstar.co.uk/gbgb-statement-re-offshore-payments/GBGB STATEMENT RE OFFSHORE PAYMENTSThe Greyhound Board of Great Britain welcomes the announcement by Ladbrokes / Coral that it will be paying a voluntary levy to greyhound racing based on offshore (remote) greyhound turnover from the start of 2018.
GBGB chief executive Barry Faulkner said: “Following our protracted talks with bookmaker representatives over the last two years and the appointment of Lord Lipsey by DCMS to assist with those talks earlier this year, the announcement is welcome news.
The BGRF voluntary levy income has halved over the last few years with the major bookmakers, other than Bet365, making no contribution from their offshore operations.
We hope that other operators will follow suit and agree to extend the voluntary levy to their remote operations. Hopefully, this will begin a process whereby the chronic underfunding of greyhound racing comes to an end. The additional revenue will help to ensure that sport can maintain the highest standards of welfare and integrity.”
Ladbrokes / Coral has agreed that payments will be made via the British Greyhound Racing Fund, as is the case with payments made by its onshore operation.
The additional funding would be distributed by the BGRF based on its agreed budget.
Acting GBGB chair Robert Griffiths QC said: “I welcome Ladbrokes decision and very much hope that all other betting companies will now follow suit”.
