SALFORD DUMPED OUT OF THE CUP BY THE 'ROBINS' Krisnan Inu scored Salford's first try but the Red Devils failed to survive a second-half fight-back from Hull KR in today's Coral Challenge Cup tie at the A J Bell Stadium.. Salford Red Devils (14) 18
Tries: Inu, Evalds, Welham Goals: Inu 3
Hull Kingston Rover (6) 32
Tries: Linnett, Drinkwater, Vaivai, Addy, Hauraki Goals: Shaw 6Hull KR came from 10 points behind to beat Salford Red Devils and reach the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup.
Salford led 16-6 shortly after half-time thanks to tries from Krisnan Inu, Niall Evalds and Kris Welham.
But Josh Drinkwater crossed and, after Inu kicked a penalty, Junior Vaivai scored and Ryan Shaw added the extras to draw Rovers level.
Danny Addy's close-range score then put the visitors ahead before Weller Hauraki's late try sealed victory.
After Kane Linnett got on the end of a low kick to put the Robins ahead, Salford dominated the first half at the AJ Bell Stadium to lead 14-6 at the break.
Hull KR have lost their past four games in Super League and are five places below the Red Devils in the table, but clicked into gear after the restart and were clinical when chances came their way.
Shaw was flawless from the kicking tee all afternoon, scoring six goals, having seen Inu miss two conversion attempts in the first period.
Rovers, winners in 1980, reach the last eight for the first time since 2015 - when they progressed all the way to the final and were beaten 50-0 by Leeds Rhinos.

Super League: Leaders Saints come from behind to stun Salford for 32-30 victory....Lachlan Coote followed his two early tries by completing his hat-trick late on for a personal haul of 20 pointsBetfred Super League
St Helens (16) 32 Tries: Coote 3, Makinson 2, Bentley Goals: Coote 4
Salford Red Devils (18) 30 Tries: Evalds 2, Dudson, Olpherts, Lui Goals: Inu 5Leaders St Helens produced a stunning late salvage job to beat Salford in an entertaining Super League contest.
Losing 16-0 on 12 minutes after Lachlan Coote (twice) and Tommy Makinson crossed, Salford led by the break with converted tries from Gil Dudson, Niall Evalds and Derrell Olpherts.
Evalds' second and Rob Lui's try put Salford into a 30-16 lead but Saints hit back to score three times.
Coote and Makinson scored again and a James Bentley try was given on review.
It looked as if the youngster may have lost control crossing the line in the dying seconds but the video referee gave it and Coote kicked the goal, to send Saints six points clear at the top.
It was yet more heartbreak for Salford, who were also 24-8 up with seven minutes left on this ground two seasons ago and still lost in equally dramatic circumstances to a Matty Smith drop-goal after the hooter.
On a night when they could have gone third, the Red Devils were instead left to contemplate their latest failure to win an away game against St Helens for a first time since 1980.
Salford's Niall Evalds (left) has now scored nine tries in his last six visits to St Helens - but always ended up on the losing side Salford's Niall Evalds (left) has now scored nine tries in his last six visits to St Helens - but always ended up on the losing side Coote scored twice in three minutes as Justin Holbrook's side made a perfect start, his first following a great 50-metre break from Welsh winger Regan Grace, in which he outstripped four opponents.
Theo Fages' well-timed pass then set up Coote for his own converted second try before also creating Makinson's try in the corner with a delayed pass.
But former Wigan prop Gil Dudson barged over for a try, for the first of five conversions by Krisnan Inu, who also created full-back Evalds' 80-metre dash to the posts for the second try.
Salford then snatched the lead when Lui's kick to the corner was patted infield by Inu and Olpherts produced a determined finish from close range.
Lui's break and strength created the space for Evalds' second touchdown before taking centre stage himself on the hour mark, with a superb solo try from 15 metres out.
But it is never advisable to write off Saints - and back they came to score three times in the final 15 minutes.
Coote completed his hat-trick before Makinson brushed aside a weak dual challenge before accelerating to the right corner.
Coote's left-footed touchline conversion crucially cut the deficit to just four points - and, when Bentley's try was allowed to stand, Saints had completed yet another of their amazing comeback victories.
St Helens head coach Justin Holbrook:
"I am happy to win that one. What an entertaining game of rugby league. Massive credit to the players to storm back in the way they did.
"We started well, but we knew if we gave Salford any opportunities they would take them and scored some good tries.
"The good thing is that we stayed calm and you have got to win all different ways during the year. We will learn a lot from this, but to get the two points was massive after being in a really tough spot."
Salford coach Ian Watson:
"To come from 16-0 down and show that determination and desire and get into a really good position at Saints is a tough one to take.
"Saints turned the heat up when they got a sniff and we gave away penalties and too much possession. But I'm pleased about the work the boys put in. If they can do that every week, they can compete with the top teams.
"When we have done the right things in games and kept to processes we have beaten teams. Hopefully a performance like that will give those players that belief in themselves."
St Helens: Coote; Swift, Makinson, Costello, Grace; Lomax, Fages; Lees, Smith, Walmsley, Peyroux, Z Taia, Knowles.
Interchanges: Paulo, Amor, Ashworth, Bentley.
Salford: Evalds; Olpherts, Inu, Welham, Sio; Lui, Hastings; Mossop, Lussick, Dudson, Jones, Griffin, Burke.
Interchanges: Walker, McCarthy, Murray, Pauli.
Referee: Scott Mikalauskas (RFL)

Salford Red Devils 20-22 Hull Kingston Rovers[/size] Betfred Super League - Magic Weekend
Salford Red Devils (6) 20
Tries: Lussick, Pauli, Sio 2 Goals: Inu 2
Hull KR (14) 22 Tries: Linnett, Hall 2 Goals: Shaw 5Ryan Shaw's late penalty helped Hull KR narrowly beat Salford Red Devils at Anfield to pull away from the bottom of the Super League table.
Rovers raced 14-0 ahead with tries from Kane Linnett and Craig Hall.
Joey Lussick ran in under the posts to put Salford back in it, but Hall scored his second soon after the restart.
Pauli Pauli crossed and two scores from Ken Sio put Salford level at 20-20, but Shaw's penalty goal - his fifth successful kick - sealed the win.
The victory moves Tim Sheens' Rovers up to 10 points, two clear of Leeds Rhinos and London Broncos, who meet in Sunday's second Magic Weekend fixture.
Salford, meanwhile, slipped to their ninth league defeat of the season but Ian Watson's Red Devils remain seventh.
Salford looked likely to score first in the early stages of the game, with Derrell Olpherts fumbling an early chance to run in unopposed at the corner to get their first points on the board.
It was Rovers who struck first, however, with Linnett going in at the opposite end as Hull KR began a dominant first-half display.
The Red Devils' task got harder midway through the first half when they had Wakefield loanee Pauli sent to the sin-bin for a late challenge on Josh Drinkwater.
Pauli made amends as his second-half try, which was followed by Sio's double, clawed the Red Devils level.
However, Krisnan Inu missed the extras from Sio's second try from near the touchline and that allowed Shaw to clinch victory for Rovers.

MATCH REPORT TO FOLLOW.... Super League:
Hull FC 35-32 Salford Red Devils
Betfred Super League
Hull FC (28) 35
Tries: Kelly 2, Connor, Minichiello, Shaul, Naulago Goals: Sneyd 5 Drop-goal: Sneyd
Salford (12) 32
Tries: Pauli 2, Bibby 2, Lui, Evalds Goals: Inu 4Hull FC held off a Salford Red Devils comeback to win on an emotional night that saw both clubs show support for their former player Jansin Turgut.
Hull ended the game with just 11 men after Josh Griffin was sent off and both sides had a player sin-binned.
But they held on to win despite Salford fighting back from a 28-12 deficit to lose by just three points on a night when Turgut was in everyone's thoughts. He is recovering from surgery in Spain after a fall in Ibiza. Turgut's partner Steph Gaunt, who is raising funds for his aftercare, was a special guest. She saw Hull dominate the first half, scoring five tries in building a 28-12 lead.
Salford rallied with Rob Lui, Pauli Pauli, Jake Bibby and Niall Evards all crossing, but Hull just held on. Hull's win, which takes them level on points with third-place Catalans Dragons, had looked to be formality at the interval.
A blistering home start at the KCOM Stadium brought an 18-0 lead inside 15 minutes, Albert Kelly touching down Marc Sneyd's clever kick and Jake Connor and Mark Minichiello also crossing.
The teams then shared four tries, with Pauli powering over and Bibby scoring in the corner for Salford.
Kelly scored his second try in between and sheer pace from Jamie Shaul earned the home side's fifth before the break.
Rob Lui went over from close range to cut the lead further, but the relentless nature of the game then slowed.
A Marc Sneyd drop-goal made it 29-16 and Ratu Naulago ran well over half the length of the pitch to seemingly seal the win with 15 minutes remaining.
But a spirited Salford finale brought late drama in an increasingly fiery contest.
Hull's Chris Green and Salford's Adam Walker were both sent to the sin bin for a scuffle and Griffin then saw red for the hosts for a dangerous tackle.
Salford almost made the extra man count, with second tries for Pauli and Bibby making it 35-28.
But despite Evards going over in the corner Hull held on for a three-point win.
