THERE are no fewer than 14 opens on a quality card at Sheffield tonight with the six BGBF British Bred Derby heats over 500m dominating proceedings live on Racing Post Greyhound TV/TRP.
It is no surprise to see the kennels of British breeding stalwarts Liz and Rab McNair well represented in the competition, with King Cash arguably looking their banker at 7.42. He was impressive from stripes here last week and should be able to repeat the dose.
The McNairs can double up at 7.57 with King Sheeran. Runner-up in the Eclipse behind the sensational Ice On Fire, he lacks a look round but he has a huge engine and seems to have fared well with his heat.
The John Mullins-trained Romeo Rumble got the better of the reopposing King Lennon and Joella Reggie when scoring last week. Winner of the British Breeders Stakes at Nottingham in October, he goes from trap six again tonight at 7.09 and looks set to turn in front and confirm those placings.
No-one would begrudge Harry Williams a change of fortune at present and while Pond Adonis landing the 8.13 can not make up for a rough couple of weeks for the kennel, he can lay down a challenge for overall honours here.

No Apologie makes no mistake in Ryan Holmes Puppy Cup final.....
MAKE NO APOLOGIE landed a second competition in just over a month when making all in Sheffield's Ryan Holmes Puppy Cup final over 500m on Tuesday, writes Jonathan Kay of the Racing Post......
Heather Dimmock's dog, who was successful at Hove in October where he beat hot Trafalgar Cup favourite Antigua Breeze having previously reached the Romford Puppy Cup final, broke well from five and had his early path smoothed by chief rival Look Like Power turning left on his immediate inside in four.
In truth, the December 2017 dog did not really need any help and he was never threatened as he went away to beat The Other Rambo by five lengths in 28.92sec.
Richard Evans, from the winning Jabber Crew syndicate, said: "It was a great win for our dog and he looks a nice prospect for our syndicate. The Jabber Crew been running now for two years, six months and that makes it 100 winners for us."
Dimmock's excellent night continued in the heats of the BGBF British Bred Derby with Down To The Felt, third promoted to second in last year's final, turning the third into a procession.
Veteran King Turbo broke best but was bumped early and Down To The Felt took advantage to quickly assert and pull clear with every stride.
At the line, he was eight lengths ahead of King Turbo in clocking 28.71sec which stood as the fastest time of the night until the final heat.
That was where King Dylan completed a hat-trick for Liz and Rab McNair as he justified strong support by getting first run on Pond Adonis, who he deposed as favourite, in recording 28.67sec.
King Lennon had set the McNair ball rolling in heat two with his time of 29.40sec reflecting the trouble he had to overcome, while King Sheeran out-middled Gold Collar winner Saving Sonic in heat five as he posted 28.87sec.
The McNairs' King Cash survived a scare to qualify from heat four despite a slow start although the 1-3 favourite had to play third fiddle behind Shaun Moore's Coyote Shauney, who belied odds of 14-1 in 29.28sec, and Dimmock's Westcot Norman.
The opening heat went to Martin Cutler's Russelena Bowwow as he led early and galloped on powerfully to beat Viking Gaunty by six lengths in 29.23sec.

A Sheffield night to remember for Rab and Liz McNair.......
KING DYLAN was marginally quickest on a wonderful night for Liz and Rab McNair and the owning KSS Syndicate as litter-mates took all three semis of the BGBF British Bred Derby over 500m at Sheffield on Tuesday, writes Jonathan Kay of the Racing Post...
Sent off 1-2 for the opener, King Dylan enjoyed all the room in the world on the rails early then got inside leader Westcot Norman to assert off the second.
Drawing clear with every stride, the February 2017 son of Eden The Kid and Skate On came home almost five lengths to the good of Sharpys Pluto in 28.70sec.
He now has a dual Category One final assignment with an appearance in Friday's Coral Essex Vase final at Romford prior to the Sheffield decider next Tuesday, and so too does King Lennon after his victory in the second semi.
Rackitup Charlie took the field along for a long way but King Lennon moved into second before halfway and forged to the front off the last.
He pulled away to match King Dylan's winning margin of four and three-quarter lengths in a time just one spot slower, 28.71sec, with Sharpys Rocket coming from last to reach the final for the second successive year and ensure a second finalist for trainer John Sharp.
The King clean sweep was completed when King Sheeran took early command in the third semi and, although he came back to the field a little late on, he still scored by one and a half lengths from Russelena Bowwow in 28.81sec.
*Draw for Tuesday's final:
1 Sharpys Pluto, 2 King Lennon, 3 Russelena Bowwow, 4 King Dylan, 5 King Sheeran (w), 6 Sharpy Rocket (w).
King Sheeran pings to prove he has the shape of a champion.
KING SHEERAN pinged out to make all and land the £7,500 final of the BGBF British Bred Derby over 500m at Sheffield on Tuesday, writes Jonathan Kay of the Racing Post......
Sent off 7-4 favourite for Liz McNair, King Sheeran had to deal with speedy Russelena Bow Wow tearing to the bend but cleared that rival and set sail for home.
Nothing else threatened to get competitive the first two staying unchanged throughout, King Sheeran eventually scoring by four and a half lengths from Russelena Bow Wow in 29.11sec to add to the Swindon Produce title he landed in summer.
Winning trainer McNair said: “It's his second Category One and I'm really proud of him. It's brilliant, especially after I was sitting in the vet's office at Nottingham last year [after he broke a hock] thinking he'd make a good pet.”
McNair's other finalists King Lennon and King Dylan, who had also reached the Essex Vase final last week as they targeted dual competitions, finished fourth and sixth respectively.
Rab McNair said: “I knew he was a bit fresher than the other two, with his hock you don't push him too hard. He's running at the top of his game, that's two big British-bred competitions and he reached the semi-finals of the English Derby. He's so consistent.”
Roxholme Jim impressed on his return to four bends when setting the standard in the Bob Holmes Memorial heats over 500m.
Hayley Keightley's Essex Vase semi-finalist was led to halfway by Make No Apologie, who was marginally favoured in the market, but went on at that point and drew away to win by more than three lengths in 29.18sec.
Phil Simmonds' Waikiki Lad was just three spots slower when taking heat two in 29.21sec, while the opener went to Barrie Draper's Newinn Missile in 29.47..
Tuesday's Bob Holmes Memorial final:
1 Newinn Missile, 2 Fire Height Chaz, 3 Roxholme Jim, 4 Kilara Lion, 5 Waikiki Lad, 6 Make No Apologie (m).
