GISLEBERTUS found his trapping boots at a most opportune moment as he showed a strong field a clean pair of heels in the dogsβ final of the Ladbrokes.com Guys & Dolls over 380m at Crayford, writes Jonathan Kay.
Belinda Greenβs dog has generally had issues at traps during his career but not on this occasion and was quickly in front with chief rival and market leader Magical Houdini having a slight coming together with Fernhill Rex.
Magical Houdini did turn in pursuit and closed in a little along the back but the local dog always looked to be holding him and did so by a length in a very smart 23.04sec with Fernhill Rex qualifying in third.
The bitchesβ final went to heavily-supported Seaglass Shadow for Patrick Janssens, who sent out Kilmore Lemon to win the event last year.
The odds-on favourite was none too well away but as the sole unseeded runner predictably enjoyed an untroubled run to the bend and paced up to take command at point.
Always in complete control afterwards, she came home four lengths clear of Skip Mayo in 23.39sec with Sleepy Genie making the final for the second year running by qualifying in third.
*Draw for Saturdayβs Β£7,500 final: 1 Magical Houdini, 2 Fernhill Rex, 3 Seaglass Shadow, 4 Gislebertus (m), 5 Sleepy Genie (w), 6 Skip Mayo (w).
