Thank you all for your warming messages at this sad time. Darren was my hero whom I looked up to We went to school together, played football together and worked together plus we shared over 30 years training greyhounds Funeral arrangements will be posted once known Mark Hampson X one of the most honest trainers at the track. we had rooster Don with your brother for a month I came to pay Darren on a Friday. when you and Darren where eating in the restaurant I gave him 4x£50 notes for the kennel bill and vet bills for the month. Your brother came to watch the dog run with me the dog went 20yards clear and cramped up on the run-in I said to Darren we get a right job out of that was running a4 but was down in a8 had electric early pace. Darren said dog has got issue which I did not know about and told me to send it back before it went wrong. As Darren said I don't want you being stuck with a crooked dog which could go wrong at any time and been stuck with a kennel bill and vets bill. Darren rang the person who we got it off and sent it back. Now I wish every other trainer was like Darren and looked after there owners properly. I tried to keep dog with Darren, but Darren was having none of it lol he said leave it with me I sort it out for you and he did. I have upmost respect for Darren Rip Darren

Darren helped me get into greyhound racing over 7 years ago, from the first time I met him you could tell he had such a passion for the sport and a genuine care for his dogs. I've had a few dogs with Darren over the years from Ellaha Lodge, Rei Doms Cantona and Rocky Danlew. He has given me some of the most precious and happiest moments in my life. My condolences go out to his family, he truly was one in a million and I'll also miss my friend dearly.

HAT'S OFF to the Belle Vue Racing Office Team for moving the mid-week Thursday trial session to Friday this week.
I'm sure Darren's funeral will be well attended but of course it will be a very sad day.
We will always remember our old friend.
On a funny note: Darren never really forgiven us for beating him in a race at Chesterton many many years ago. But we have always been great friends since he came on to the ZOO.
Norma & James Rowley.
