Tonight, dry with soft going. Bev, Joy and the Great Thompsoni have three timers. Its now very hard to hear Steve Smith in the main grandstand since the sound system malfunction last week. Race 1 Grade A4 Time 28.84 Whistle Mouse, 8s to 6s, trapped best but could only turn in third place a position she held until crowded at the third bend. She finished fourth. Stevie Tease, 3s to 5/2, running in the unsuitable stripes took one for the Racing Office team here. In fact, she took a big one at the first bend and another at the third. She finished last and may well have joined the growing list of dogs at the track disillusioned by being placed in unsuitable traps. Might we see some form of industrial action being taken by our canine primadonnas? All Trap 6's at a meeting turning in traps perhaps? Race 2 Grade A9 Time 29.32 After a slow start Kersal Zak, 7/4 to 6/4, raced to the bend like a dog who really wanted to get there in front....and did so. He had a decent lead at halfway and won a head from the pursuing Bitter Tears, backed at 7/4, who had turned in second place. The closeness of the two dogs at the line was partly due to the gameness of the runner up and party due to Zak running wide off the last bend. Race 3 Grade A8 Time 29.42 Cheshire Cat, 4s to 6/4, finished a well beaten fourth thanks to a biff at the first bend, a kapow at the second and the winner showing much improved form, form which the Cat has never shown. Race 5 Grade A7 Time 29.33 Kersal Leah, 7/4 to 11/8, will surely have got a bit of stick on the way home in the van from her litter brothers who won both tonight whilst Leah could only finish third. She's not got their early and after a crowd at the bend and then moving m/wide at the second she turned in fourth place with a lot on her plate. She ran on to finish a creditable third. Race 6 Grade A6 Time 29.03 Support for a slimmed down Glin Lark, 9/4 to 6/4, who turned second following a glancing first bend crowd. She kept on for second place but never looked like catching the improving winner. Race 7 Grade A5 Time 28.81 Grandad Ack, 9/4 to 6/4, turned in third pace followng a touch at the bend but lost that place at the third bend. He kept on well to regain third place on the run in. Sing Along Boss, 7/2 to 9/4, started slowly and, after getting the BIG E at the bend, turned in fourth place. She made no progress and finished last. Race 8 Grade A3 Time 28.92 Whambamthankumam, backed at 4s, got a better relative break here and led on the run up. She looked vulnerable at the last bend but, probably inspired by the support for her, she held on in a close finish. Karma Cause, 5/2 to 7/4, turned in second place and was on the premises at the last bend where he looked the likely winner but he surprisingly failed to find much and finished a close fourth. Beckhams Bon , backed at 2s, finished fifth and never showed. Race 9 Grade A4 Time 28.38 Round Woman, 11/8 to evens, quickly dismissed the quick starting blue sheet and took up the running on the run up winning with ease in the fastest time of the night. Race 10 Grade A5 Time 29.06 Goosey Lucy finished a one paced third here after having having every chance. Winetavern Kevin, 3s to 11/4, was even more onepaced turning in last place and finishing fourth only because two of his rivals showed their relative lack of fitness by fading on the run in. Race 11 Grade A1 Time 28.63 The evergreen Devious Rumble, 5/2 to 7/4, took a bump at the first bend, turned in third pace and kept on well to finish second. Race 12 Grade A2 Time 28.62 Well, what to do here? Quote Dirty Harry or talk about the grading of the winner Bombalini, 7/4 to 11/10? Perhaps the latter might be the more judicious path to take . Bombalini was surely one of, if not the best A1, dog to run at the track in 2012. On one particular night he beat the best at the track on merit. However, following a lengthy absence, a couple of sprint trials, a couple of open sprints in which he won one and was a creditable second in the other he then ran what was for him a modest solo trial at the track but it was his first attempt at four bends for some time. The Grader's response was to run him in an A2 here, and not a particularly strong A2 either given that the win machine Klup is clearly not firing at the moment. Bombalini has terrific early which he showed here and this took him quickly to the front with only the chasing Klup in anything like a position to challenge. The winning distance is not a true guide to the dog's superiority.

Tonight, Just Andy has a three timer. The commentator, Steve Smith, as usual worked tirelessly throughout the meeting but couldn't be heard cleary in the main grandstand again. Race 1 Grade A9 Time 29.33 With three three outside traps running off wide at the bend Coolavanny Sweet, 6/4 to 11/10, had the luxury of a complete solo and led the bend. However, the eventual winner also had a solo and turned in second place which she doesn't normally do. She ran on to relegate Sweet to second place on the run in. Race 2 Grade A4 Time 28.68 Noirs Blue, backed at 7/4, trapped fast and made all but just held on from the strong running Aero Apollo, 5/2 to 5/4, who had turned in third place. Dacent Hurricane, 4s to 7/2, started slowly and then ran very wide at the second and fourth bends before finishing fourth. Wonderful Ted, 6s to 5s, started slowly and checked wide between bends one and two. He was crowded at the third and finished fifth after never being a factor. Race 3 Grade A6 Time 29.13 Berkshire Gold, 11/8 to 1/2 , raced to the bend in a handy position only to be cut up at the corner and drop back to fourth. She looked out of it when the Stock Car dog slowed at the third bend and she tail ended it big style. Ouch!! She finished fifth and Precious understands she was approached by a solicitor on her way back to the paddock asking if she wanted to claim for whiplash. Race 5 Grade A8 Time 29.28 Thornton Tina, evens to 4/5, failed to match the early of the winner and after turning a clear second failed to match the finishing pace of the dog who relegated her to third close to the line. Race 6 Grade A7 Time 28.83 Sandridge Lad, 7/4 to 6/4, started poorly again and then ran on to finish second to a big improver. Cavenheath Dame, 4s to 3s, held second place from the second bend to the run in and finished third. Tilly Mint, 12s to 8s, justified the bookmakers' initial assessment of the market when finishing a well beaten fifth. She turned in last place after a slow start and was later badly crowded at the third bend. Race 7 Grade A5 Time 28.89 A night of disasters continued for punters when Shut Up Monkey, 6/4 to evens, finished fifth in a spectacularly competitive event with short heads between the first five dogs home. Nice one you grader! Monkey made a poor start and an ever poorer attempt to keep up with the field and was last dog at the second bend with a lot to do. He ran on well from the third. Race 8 Grade S1 Time 35.87 Woodsgift Royal, 9/4 to 2s, always needs a clear run round the first two bends because of his slow starting and he failed to get one here. He was denied the rails and then bumped at the second from which point he was in fifth place. He kept on well to finish third. Paddy the Pricer, 3s to 5/2, moved off at the second bend and was crowded. He turned third dog and was relegated to fourth on the run in. Race 9 Grade A5 Time 28.67 Ballymacdoe Spot, 5/2 to 2s, started slowly but still led the bend and had the misfortune to find none other than the Ronaldo dog in pursuit. The latter led off the last bend and Spot did really well to keep the deficit to only 3/4L at the line. Parsons Beauty, backed at 7/4, missed the break, raced up well only to be forced to check between bends one and two before finishing fifth. Race10 Grade A2 Time 28.37 Villiers End had been an unlucky loser last time out and put matters right here in good style. Backed at 6/4, she raced up to turn in third place following a fairly level break before bursting into the lead at the third bend past the early footed Home Sizzler, 9/4 to 2s, who had led on the run up. Sizzler was back in fourth when the line arrived. Race 11 Grade A1 Time 28.29 A touch of support for His Own Business at 3s and the dog showed these a clean pair of heels to the bend and from there to the line. Witton Tom, 9/4 to 2s, finished second following a slow start and Watch Dave, 9/4 to 6/4, finished third after not getting the best of runs to the bend and again at the third bend.

Today a sunny day for BAGS. Helen of Wigan has a three timer. No Office representation and all market movers were Betfair inspired unless stated.
Race 2 Grade A4 Time 28.65 Beauvais Belle, 7/2 to 3s, was crowded slightly at traps when the orange sheet tried to cut across here. She turned third and finished third.
Race 3 Grade A5 Time 28.60 A once traditional form of betting, cash, accounted for Seathwaite Town being clipped from 7/2 to 3s. He missed the break, turned second and didn't find much from the third bend. He finished third. There was support for Efceerevolution, 6/4 to 11/8, who again moved off between bends one and two bumping a couple of rivals in the process. She finished a well beaten fourth.
Race 4 Grade A8 Time 29.03 Once again Talk Now gets a mention in this report having been backed from 2s to 7/4. Following a fairly level break she turned in third and finished third extending her lack of success to sixteen races.
Race 5 Grade A5 Time 28.99 A perhaps fortunate win for Marys Fun, 3s to 11/4, who was beaten for pace to the bend by the eventual runner up and turned in second place. She looked held at the last until the leader checked wide on the run in and Fun took her opportunity.
Race 7 Grade A6 Time 28.94 Lisnakill Joanna, 3s to 5/2, turned in fourth place behind some must lead to win sorts and stayed on well to lead lead on the run in.
Race 8 Grade A4 Time 29.00 Swords Tosh, 7/2 to 3s, was effectively last away from traps but turned in second place behind his quick starting kennel chum, the reserve, after enjoying a solo round the first two bends. Tosh challenged from between bends three and four to the line and couldn't quite get up to win. Not a bad effort from an old stager.
Race 9 Grade A3 Time 28.44 Jumeirah Banjo, 7/2 to 3s, trapped fast and made all. Noirs Memory, 7/4 to 6/4, started slowly and wasn't well placed when appearing to hit the rail at the bend. She finished a well beaten third.

Today, a cold but bright day for BAGS. Bev runs riot and has a SEVEN timer! Get the Police! An excellent surface. Race 1 Grade A5 Time 28.85 Old codger Cape Bart, 3s to 9/4, secured an overdue success after leading at the first and quickening at the second. Goosey Lucy, 4s to 7/2, finished a one paced fourth having had every chance. Race 2 Grade A3 Time 28.52 The better class Dacent Alma, backed by the Offices from 3s to 9/4, trapped a length clear and maintained that advantage to the line despite the efforts of some staying types who were in close pursuit. Race 3 Grade A9 Time 29.31 Office money for Daisys May, 7/2 to 9/4, who is just five or so weeks out of season and who finished last beaten over twelve lengths last time. . She secured an unwanted double finishing last again beaten over twelve lengths following a paceless effort. Race 4 Grade A2 Time 28.55 Somegametowin, 5/2 to 2s, was last dog at the bend following a missed break. He was badly crowded between bends three and four and finished fifth. Race 5 Grade A3 Time 28.47 Barbican Robbie, 3s to 11/4, just held the rails at the bend which enabled him to turn in second place but despite his best efforts he finished second. Betfair and cash support for Dilton Black, 3s to 2s, who finished a well beaten fifth following a slow start. He did the Jive with the white sheet between bends three and four. Race 6 Grade A5 Time 28.71 Betfair support for Tyrur Jessica, 2s to 7/4, who showed impressive pace to the bend. Her closest pursuer ran out of steam on the run in which enabled Jessica to win decisively. Race 7 Grade A7 Time 29.05 Late Office support for Tyrur Stosur the early paced, short running bitch. She led the bend and had her chance improved when her closest pursuers tangled at the last bend. She won 2L. Race 8 Grade A6 Time 28.58 Betfair support for Maybe George, 3s to 11/4, who was one of five dogs who got a level break behind the quick starting leader. George turned fourth dog and kept on well for second place but met a rival who upped her game today. Race 9 Grade A4 Time 28.76 Mr Betfair backed Impact Lass, 3s to 2s, and she ran well to finish third following a slow start and a bump at the bend which left her in fifth place at the second bend. You can't beat the Ronaldo dog when he's in front of you so the defeat by less than three lengths had some merit. Race 10 Grade A8 Time 29.43 Old stager Turnmoss Maggie, supported by Mr Betfair from 4s to 3s, was fairly handy at the bend and turned in third place. She held that position to the run in and finished fourth. Race 11 Grade A2 Time 28.42 Glenvale Louis backed by Mr Batfair from 5/2 to 2s, was crowded between bends one and two and finished fourth. Race 12 Grade A1 Time 28.35 Devious Rumble, 3s to 11/4, was crowded on the run up, bumped at the first and second and finished fifth. Race 13 Grade A4 Time 28.73 Ballyfin Og supported by cash and Mr Betfair from 9/2 to 7/2, made a poor start before pacing up to turn in third place around three lengths behind the leader, one of Bev's Invincibles. Og produced a smart turn of foot to cut inside said dog and lead between bends three and four. He moved wide at the last carrying the early leader with him and he then stuck it out to the line following a slight coming together on the run in thus denying Bev an eight timer. Tibetan Breeze, 5s to 9/2, made a poor start and was last dog at the second bend. She stayed on late for fourth place.

Another cold night.
Race 1 Grade A8 Time 29.21 Thornton Tina, 5/2 to 9/4, failed to shine in the early pace department and after checking at the second bend finishd a well beaten fifth.
Race 2 Grade A7 Time 29.03 Thornfield Julio, 5/2 to 4/5, trapped well and raced clear for a facile win though the winner's time adds some perspective to his performance and that of his rivals.
Race 3 Grade A5 Time 28.62 El Groove, 3s to 5/2, ran well to the third bend behind the fast starting winner, who stays, and finished second. Stevie Tease, 9/4 to 2s, finished a well beaten fourth after missing the break and being crowded at the second bend when mid division.
Race 5 Grade A6 Time 29.07 With three novices making their debuts punters went for Boherash Mia, 7/2 to 7/4, who has plenty of form in the book. She led on the run to the bend and won comfortably.
Race 6 Grade A4 Time 29.02 Not only was the useful Lord Montague dropped in class on his return but he was guaranteed a solo to the bend by the presence of the bitch in the blue sheet who moves rightish on the run to the bend. The Lord, 7/4 to 4/5, led near the bend and held on well for the win.
Race 7 Grade A4 Time 28.96 A remarkable defeat for Jay Jay Wonga, 5/2 to 2s, after he trapped clear but could only lead to the second where the winner, who'd started poorly, led. Wonga stayed on grimly to be beaten by only a sh but this surely wasn't his form. His run to the 590 metres mark was moderate also. Tyrur Duggan, backed at 5/2, held third place from the second to halfway and finished fifth. Dacent Hurricane, 5s to 4s, finished last after running very wide on the bends.
Race 8 Grade A3 Time 28.55 For a long way Messi Legend, 4/5 to 4/6, looked a likely loser as he toiled a couple of lengths behind the early paced leader. On the run in the leader's stamina started to drain away and Messi took over for the win.
Race 9 Grade A5 Time 28.76 Tyrur Sharapova, 6s to 7/2, was handy at the bend when given the BIG E. She turned in fourth place and after being roughed up at the third finished fifth.
Race 10 Grade A2 Time 28.38 With Boris Johner, an A1 dog at Monmore and a minor open winner, making his debut in an A2 the mismatch was reflected in the opening show of 4/5. Backed into 8/11 the dog held his early paced rival in the orange sheet to the bend, led and won easily.
Race 11 Grade A1 Time 28.30 A decent and promising effort from the unraced Borna Consent, 5/2 to 2s, who trapped slowly alongside His Own Business, backed at 2s, and showed slightly the better early to turn second behind the fast starting leader and winner. Borna ran on to finish second whilst Business finished fourth after being bumped between bends three and four whilst trying to defend third place.
Race 12 Grade S1 Time 36.18 Low Wood Gift, 2s to 7/4, started slowly and finished fourth after never being a factor.

HAVE YOU AN OPINION ON TONIGHTS OFFICIAL GOING ALLOWANCES 'precious' Trials were -30 470m and -20 260m Races -30 for the 470m all night and -45 for the 590m ? I thought the going was slightly faster than the allowance given but only marginally and given that the trials and the early races were handtimed I don't think you can criticise the official going. As for the trials on Thursday I noted that there were several folks who thought the going was much faster than officially given. Check out the sprint times in particular and even with the official going allowances there were several fairly exposed dogs who ran slower using the official allowance than they had on their previous trial. Its all about opinions and those who wish to query theses going allowances should perhaps use their assessments when the dogs in question next run. Good luck!

The other factor that I suspect people don't always take into account is low temperatures which can have a significant impact of both the dogs themselves and the going.
