well i can see a problem.in a very short time the grass roots dogs will be eclipsed by open dogs cosseted [like this samson dog]it FOR ME it destroys what set out as a good comp for graded dogs.i will go as far as to say,as some of the graders get there arsed kicked by the open racers this comp will fold.it will have got what it deserves.indifferance.

I can see both sides of this debate, but I do think that advertising that what is a clearly very good dog has been layed out for BAGs competition is going to rub some people up the wrong way (Racing Post 25/02/13).
In terms of the 'one win' open racers rule, there could be some dogs on the down grade that have scaled the heights but are now regular BAGs runners. To my mind the important thing is that the dogs are running regularly in graded races (including BAGs meetings).

Benny - I touched on your point some time ago when this was first announced, and at that time I stated that this was a recipe for disaster because of the possible infighting and favouritism this could impose upon trainers - and thus cause infighting amongst owners! I haven't seen, nor heard, anything that makes me think differently to what I stated then! Will we get a mini elitism developing within the alleged graded strength at various tracks I wonder? Certainly food for thought!

I wonder 'IF' your very own LIVELY KARINA is chosen by the BV RO team to take part in the sprint race and your other greyhound GLENVALE LOUIS is selected to run in the 590m event you will be of a differant opinion 'manseefan' ?

Fair comment - but my opinion remains the same!
Just because one may? have any animal on the fringe, or even an excellant chance of selection, doesn't alter the basic concept, which is flawed!
This could all have been avoided had the original idea muted, of Graders - with exclusion for OR winners been kept!
Comps - Opens for opens and graders for graders is only my view, to which I am entitled, including winners of even just one open race, is something that I don't happen to agree with!

Eggstravaganza races running throughout March for Good Friday Grand Final26/02/2013
Greyhound racing's newest initiative gets underway on Saturday with the launch of the BAGS/SIS Easter Eggstravaganza. The competition offers a prize fund in the region of £125,000 and will see 16 tracks stage qualifiers ahead of Grand Finals’ Day at Monmore Green on Good Friday 29th March.
Finals’ Day will be a 16-race canine ‘eggstravaganza’ and Monmore’s management have vowed to repeat the success of the inaugural BAGS Track Championship final in late 2011. The 2013 Easter Eggstravaganza kicks off on Saturday 2nd March with Poole staging six races, the winners of each qualifying for Monmore on Good Friday. Kinsley will stage their six heats on Sunday, while Nottingham’s will take place on Monday. Monmore runs theirs on Friday 8th March.
Poole’s six qualifiers will comprise two standard distance bitch events, a standard dog contest, a sprint, a six-bend stayer and a puppy race. Kinsley, who stage their Easter Eggstravaganza heats on Sunday, will run a sprint, two standard dog contests, two standard bitch races and a six-bend stayers.
“Given the different distances and variety at all our tracks, it was about trying to get six runners for each of 16 races over as many distances and criteria as possible. It was quite a jigsaw puzzle, but great fun and I’ve had great feedback from the racing managers,” said Scott Harvey, Bags deputy secretary.
“And, of course, as well as the individual races and the terrific prize-money we are offering, there is a team element to the day with the track collecting the most points from runners in the six races they compete in taking home £6,000, £3,000 for second and £1,000 for third. In addition, each track in the top three on the day will share a total of £20,000 in extra prize-money for their future Bags meetings.”
