Young Golden in 33/1 Gymcrack surprise 

YOUNG GOLDEN proved a 33/1 shock winner of the Betfred Gymcrack puppy final at Kinsley on Wednesday night, a race marred by an injury to odds-on favourite Sidaz Scotty.

Bunching at the bend saw Young Golden, a litter brother to Golden Wonder,  get an unexpected opportunity and he kicked clear to score by nearly three lengths from Droopys Odell in 27.45sec.

Paul Young, who trains the winner for the Paradise Boys Syndicate, said: “Nobody wants to win in such circumstances, and everyone’s thoughts are with Sidaz Scotty.”

There were differing views of the incident, but it appeared as if Sidaz Scotty was clipped from behind before losing his footing.

The injury was still being assessed afterwards, but the dog was said to be comfortable.

Simon Wooder, one of his owners, said: “It’s obviously very worrying, but a question of waiting to see the full extent of the problem in the morning.”

Earlier Leap Of Faith took a bunched stayers final for Malcolm Daniels, fending off Ayamzabeauty by a short-head in 40.45sec

Monleek Town flashed out clear to land  the sprint final for David Pruhs in 16.02sec.
