Update on Blondie now called Callie
Dear All,
A little update on this gorgeous girl.
So far I have to say...we DO have the perfect dog!!!
We are all besotted (apart from hubby of course..but I will give him some time)...even my reticent teenager is madly in love with her dog now and has walked her several times, after saying she did not want a dog and therefore did not want to be on the walking rota!!! She is now happy to go out...and even took her for a jog last week!! If anything, Blondie, now called Callie, might be a little too walked, brushed, cuddled, fussed over and loved!!
I have asked the kids to take it easy as Callie broke her hock last year and we have noticed after last weekend, which was very busy, that she was limping a little.
I would be very happy to hear from others with the same experience as they are getting on.
Her previous owners have been in touch and are so caring for this lovely bitch. They have even given me the details of the vet who saved her. Because I will have her spayed in the next few weeks, I got in touch with the vet to check if she had anything in her history that we needed to be aware of before her next surgery. I am so happy to report that he replied very promptly (and that there is no contr-indication either).
In the early days, she looked like she was wondering if all this fuss really was for her!! And she is now slowly starting to try and push the boundaries a little.
It is so wonderful to see her learning so fast!! She knows one room is out of bound...and will only go in it if I am not around (cheeky girl).
She was extremelly interested in our chickens at first and ran around the coop a lot...she now knows of the chickens and I can even open the door to feed them with Callie by my side showing no signs of jumping on them.
I have not yet let them loose in the garden with her watching from indoors, but might start this weekend.
Likewise, she could become cat friendly I guess, as she really has calmed down when seeing the cats on our street. It is as if she knows which are the cats from our street and because she does not like the other cats we meet on walks.
Little white fluffy dogs were a big attraction at first...you could tell she just wanted to go and chase the "bunny". These were the only times we would hear her bark. Yet yesterday she said hello to a little white dog with no indication of wanting more!!
She has also shown no sign of stress when the kids are playing music and basically she has settled into our routine with great ease and is starting to relax. ...I could not ask for a better dog!!! I am so pleased we had to wait...it makes the joy of having her so much stronger!
Thanks Gael
