My Boy Farloe Hawk Trialed on 1st June ran 35.77 (+15)... then was put back over 470m. the week after run s1 finishing 3rd 35.83. then was put back at 470m and won when finishing like a train (which suggests he needs 6bends) then we enter him into open last friday doesnt get a run (which was probs 50/50) was reserve but left off the weeks card.... and this friday hes in A2.. and theyve put a S1 on and a S2.... Really dont see the point of running him over 470m he will only ever win by a nose at this grade and would prob need luck..... Spoke to my trainer and he said not alot he can do as grader basically has the free use to use the dog on the card as he sees fit....

Do what I did pal, leave him off for 2 weeks and then trial him back on over 590. Just don't trial him back over 470 under any circumstances. The only drawback is you won't get 4 runs a month, maybe 2 or 3 at most. That's the only way round it,unless anyone else knows better. Good luck with him whatever you choose mate.

would be happy having 2 590m runs and 2 470m runs per month..... but he really needs the distance, the 470m runs would just keep him fit n if conditions are wet he can win by just outstaying em like the other sat..... the fact we trialed him at 590 and enterd him into 590 open should be a clear factor that we want him as much as possible over 6bends.

You could always ask Mr Fielding to enter Farloe Hawk for an open say at Nottingham [Mon] or Sheffield [Tues]
There are going to be plenty of minor opens at Belle Vue from now until the end of the year but you must already can see these events don't always fill.
We all want to see more variety on the race cards at Belle Vue and I would love to see regular 670m graded races take place but there is just not enough greyhounds on the strength at this time to allow the grader to put these races on.
We have a stupid situation this Saturday at the ZOO where one trainer has 3 runners is a S1/590m event.
In my opinion that's crazy... But in saying that your trainer has no runners on Saturday so there's another reason why your greyhound has unfortunately missed out!
Also it does not help every week when no 590m races take place at the two BAGS meetings
Better luck next week with the Hawk over six-bends.......
