  Sunderland Greyhound Stadium is about to get a slice of TV stardom when it appears in a forthcoming episode of Vera.
Vera series 10 got going on ITV last Sunday, with Brenda Blethyn returning in the title role
as no nonsense crime sleuth DCI Vera Stanhope.
The stadium, which is celebrating its 30th year of racing this year, was asked to be a central figure
of an episode which was filmed late last year.
The filming crew, bus-loads of extras and star of the show Brenda took over the venue
for a week, rebranding it as ‘Moorden Fields Stadium’ for the hit show.
General Manager Joanne Wilson said: “The whole cast and crew were a pleasure to deal with from the off. They completely took over our stadium for a week, all the staff and regular punters were extremely excited to get a sneak peak of life on a film set.”
