...Angela Harrison sparkles with an open treble... A TREBLE from Angela Harrison at Newcastle on Thursday {9-7-20} proved the local handler is primed for a big show in the forthcoming RPGTV All England Cup as a series of 480m trial stakes took place there.
Fastest was their star bitch Velvet Juliet. She kicked clear at the first bend, holding Jimmy Fenwick’s Dilly Dilly by nearly two lengths in 28.47sec (4.57sec up). Trouble engulfed the remainder.
Kennelmate Levante Beach (28.71sec, 4.56sec sectional), a top pup last year, then led home a Harrison forecast with their Droopys Pilot in second. The latter kept on well to go down less than two lengths after first bend bunching that left Deadly Cyclone on the deck.
Then came Harrison’s Droopys Carat (28.67sec, 4.59sec) who was soon impressively clear in the fourth and last of the opens. Greenwell Jean finished fast for second. Favourite Waikiki Lad endured a rough ride.
The first open went to Carl Jackson’s Lisogarbh Prince, who opened his account in timely fashion, this being his tenth start. There was much to like about his 28.55sec win (4.67sec sectional) given he was chopped off by leading Bentley Crew (later tired into fourth) on the second bend.
Look Like Power was runner-up here, two and half lengths behind after a photo with Forest Jason. Favourite Droopys Catch walked out, then got carted wide at the bend.
*In trials before racing, Steven Anderson’s classy Bramble Reggie was fastest, clocking 28.24sec in a 480m solo (4.46sec sectional).
Hayley Keightley’s Hiya Boyo recorded 28.44sec in another solo (4.62sec up), Anderson’s Shady Diesel (4.60sec sectional) comfortably took a three runner trial in 28.48sec.
*The Category One RPGTV All England Cup (480m, Newcastle) closes to 36 entries at noon on Monday ahead (July 13) and starts Thursday July 16, running across three Thursdays with the £8,000 to the winner final on Thursday July 30.
Supporting main events are the RPGTV Angel of the North (480m bitches), RPGTV Sprint Cup (280m) and RPGTV Puppy Cup (480m, pups whelped Aug 2018 or younger).
These are all for 18-runners, heats Thursday July 23, £1,500-to-the-winner finals a week later.
