ARC REVEAL SIGNIFICANT PRIZE MONEY INCREASES Wednesday September 1 sees the launch of the ARC prize money structure which will see significant rises in prize money across each of the company’s own tracks: Central Park, Newcastle, Nottingham, Perry Barr and Sunderland writes Floyd Amphlett of the Greyhound Star.
While the eye is drawn to the £200 to top heat winners, the significant figure is surely the £50 that will be paid to runners down to A6 company?
By comparison, until now, a Newcastle A6 runner would have been receiving £35.
Indeed, it is the worst paying tracks who will seem to benefit the most. A good example is Perry Barr which has been kept impoverished by GRA for years.
Today’s A7 winner at Perry Barr would have collected £69 and also-rans collecting £33. From tomorrow the – well see for yourself!
For obvious reasons, the company have not announced details of the trainers’ own deals which are again reckoned to be significantly enhanced.
One Newcastle trainer, who declined to be named said: “These deals are a game changer for us.”

TAKEN FROM THE GREYHOUND STAR WEBSITE TUESDAY 14-9-21:::::::ARC TO PAY OPEN RACE TRAINER BONUS:::: ARC are to pay £15 to non-attached trainers for every entry in open races at their five tracks.
The extra payments were made by Central Park, under previous owners Cearnsport and prior to the Covid break, though it is a new innovation for the ARC tracks.
Greyhound Operations Director Rachel Corden said: “We will be introducing a £15 per runner trainer payment to non-attached trainers travelling with greyhounds to run in open races at Central Park, Newcastle, Nottingham, Perry Barr & Sunderland.
“This will take effect from this Sunday 19 September 2021, so Central Park’s open races for this coming Sunday, entries for which close at noon tomorrow, will attract the payment. This is in addition to recent minor open race prize money increases.”

TAKEN FROM THE RACING POST TUESDAY 5-10-21....
Newcastle will only race in daylight while a lighting issue is resolved
THE evening Bags meeting scheduled at Newcastle for Tuesday night was cancelled late on Monday, with promoters Arena Racing Company (Arc) confirming the reason being a track lighting issue.
The track's meeting scheduled for Wednesday will now swap with sister track Sunderland.
Moving forward, Newcastle will schedule to race only on morning meetings, to allow a significant upgrade to the lighting system at the track to take place.
Arc head of racing Dave Baldwin said, "We can only apologise to the owners and trainers at Newcastle and thank them for their patience.
"We look forward to starting work on installing a new LED lighting system at Newcastle and resuming our normal schedule as soon as possible."
