Zero can be a hero for his followers....BY JONATHAN KAY OF THE RACING POSTCRONODY ZERO is going from strength to strength and Ben Reynolds’ star can complete a five-timer when he goes in the 9.06 over Nottingham’s 305m.
He raced to a seven-length victory a fortnight ago and can again leave them trailing in his wake.
BALLYMAC AMBROSE can go one better by making it six wins on the spin in the 500m finale at 9.22, with the distance more suitable than the 480m over which he just prevailed last week.
It is debatable whether trap five is a wider draw than ideal for Bev Heaton’s charge, but he has the initial speed to avoid any pitfalls and can assert in the second half of the contest.
Both the open wins of FRIDAYS MARIE have come at Nottingham and she is worth chancing on her return to both the track and four bends in the 8.51 over 480m.
Now trained by Kim Billingham, she was second to top-class sprinter Droopys Reel at home venue Monmore last week and is capable of building a decisive lead here then digging in.
Lynn Cook’s FLAKY BANDIT can end a run of five without a win by taking an A1 contest over 500m at 7.36, where he looks set to go round in a more advanced slot than of late.
Other Nottingham open fancies are Barry Denby’s Double Handed (7.52), Anna Thompson’s Swift Whiff (8.08), Jim Hayton’s Million Wink (8.23) and Ken Humphreys’ Coolavanny Josh (8.37), while Sean Parker’s Russanda Forest can take the sole open on the Doncaster card at 7.17......
