**THE CHAMPAGNE CLUB enjoyed a Thursday night to remember at Hove when ‘Bubblys’ trained by Paul Young landed a treble, including the forecast in a thrilling 500m puppy final. Four went over the line almost together there as Bubbly Cooper ran on to catch littler sister Bubbly Star by a head in 29.89sec. A further short-head and half length away were Untold Kwacha and Droopys Bluechip respectively.
Earlier Bubbly Bluebelle (42.15sec) made all over 695m, while Bubbly Scorcher, a June 21 puppy, opened his account in a 500m maiden catching Maireads Lion by threequarters in a night’s fastest 29.66sec
It might have been even better for the syndicate had Bubbly Cherokee not been attacked by subsequently disqualified Front Pasha when going well in the maidens final. Soul Focus grabbed his chance for Paul Marchant in 30.93sec
The sprint final went to Richard Rees’ Gonzales (16.48sec), while Seamus Cahill’s My Girl Mia made all in the 515m bitches decider (30.46sec).She held Rees’s Stellas Fruity by threeparts of a length.
