KING DRAKE, Shrewd Call and Ballynabee Lucky remain in line for the £10,000 bonus offered by the sponsor for an unbeaten winner of the event after more impressive performances in the semi-finals of the Colossus Bets Silver Salver over 265m at Central Park on Sunday, writes Jonathan Kay of the Racing Post..
The Liz McNair-trained King Drake was fastest of the night as he took the second in 16.15sec, proving much stronger than Northern Sprint champion Coolavanny Dylan on the run-in as he forged clear for a near two lengths victory.
David Mullins’ Shrewd Call had been available at 8-13 in the morning for the first semi but was smashed through all rates to be sent off 1-4 favourite at the track and those who lumped on never really had a moment’s doubt.
He was marginally out-trapped by Druids Brazona but comprehensively outpaced that rival to the bend and went on to score by two and a half lengths in 16.20sec.
Sam West’s Ballynabee Lucky confirmed heat form with Grays Cup Winner in the third semi even though the market thought otherwise by making Grays Cup Winner favourite.
And it was a comprehensive victory too as he Ballynabee Lucky too as he quickly asserted and came home two and a half lengths to the good in 16.27sec.
Mullins also took the standard 480m final with Troy Firebird, who bravely forced himself round in front at the first bend then dug in to hold off Kent Derby champion Forest Alan by half a length in 29.14sec.
There was a stunning hurdles debut victory for Rick Holloway’s Roxholme Biscuit who gave his rivals a jumping lesson as he beat Brutus Bullet by seven and a half lengths in 29.64sec.
Useful in a light career on the flat for Hayley Keightley, he won a Romford 575m maiden competition and reached Sheffield’s Ryan Holmes Puppy final prior to being disqualified at Crayford in January.
Holloway’s star hurdler Turnhouse Jet took the subsequent division in 29.37sec.
Two heats of a 480m maiden competition were won by Kevin Proctor’s Front Society (29.40sec) and Patrick Janssens’ View King (29.35sec).
*The draw for Sunday’s Colossus Bets Silver Salver final will be made at the GBGB on Monday.
*Closing at noon on Wednesday is the RPGTV Champion Hurdle heats (480mH Central Park for 36 runners). It is scheduled to run over the next three Sundays with the £8,000 final Sunday August 2.

SWIFT LOKI gave James Turner Cat One glory on Sunday night when the Crayford dog, his first ever runner at this level, triumphed in the £8,000 RPGTV Champion Hurdle over 480m jumps at Central Park.
Swift Loki flew out from trap four and took them along to the third bend, where Jim Reynolds’ Billericay Blue, who had stumbled on leaving the traps, recovered to edge ahead. Favourite Droopy Trawler was on the premises but vitally got baulked there and Swift Loki instead battled back to prevail by a length in 29.65sec. Droopys Trawler was runner-up. Mane Mane and Toughest Test collided at the first bend, the latter’s jumping then came under pressure down the back. Lenson Wilson got baulked on the run-up and lost his position.
Turner said this was “the best feeling ever.” He paid tribute to the battling nature of his dog and thanked Barry O’Sullivan for schooling him over hurdles. The plan is now to return here for the Grand National, due to start in three weeks time on Sunday August 23.
Danny Rayment, Crayford’s racing manager, emailed RPGTV to say that he was “absolutely over the moon for Swift Loki and James Turner winning the RPGTV Champion Hurdle and what a run from Billericay Blue as well.
“Thought they both ran blinders last week and backed that up with superb efforts this evening.”
Homeward Bound produced a 25-1 surprise when leading early in the £500 Sunday Night Maiden final over 480m (29.35sec).
It was quite a night for his Hove trainer Stuart Maplesden since he also had 8-1 Fayes Jet take the previous 480m open (29.32sec)
The second race was declared void when Paul Philpott’s Centenary Chloe bizarrely ran out at the start to run loose on the inside of the track. Central Park’s officials acted impressively quickly, immediately halting the hare. The runners all appeared fine.
Dan Brabon's Nans Missile was quickest in 480m heats, scoring in 29.10sec. However, marginally fastest of the night was Sam West's 480m maiden winner Ballynabee Jet who pinged to 29.09sec.
Kevin Hutton notched a first and last race double through Denmark over 480m (29.15sec) then Slaneyside Izzy (40.56sec) got up on the line in the 642m finale beating Courts Ad Joseph a short-head.
