I am able to inform all the BVOF members that ALL the Belle Vue memorabilia has now been taken down and stored in a secure lock up in the Greater Manchester area .... this has been a huge task and effort , a lot of time and expense and the ongoing rent required to use the storage . Having said that I am still pleased that I have got this job done , the alternative would have been the items been hurled into a skip to then be scrapped . Arc had no interest in BV memorabilia and any new consortium put together would want the whole stadium completely cleared out to be replaced with entirely new fixtures and fittings and new stock . I am going to take a breather for a week or two with the Friends of Belle Vue putting their package / consortium bid together and in my view it’s not the right time to start a sale .... On a personal note I have managed to get fourteen gardens and two riding school grounds under my control and hopefully I may be able to do some holiday / sickness cover camerawork !!
Good comments Steve ! I would imagine there would definitely be a history area somewhere even in a new stand or complex as our history is huge and important . A lot of the stuff in storage are some of the old shop signs which are out of date , old trophies, jackets , board games , gra signage , a lot of Love the Dogs items , gra jackets .... many frames and photos etc . We ‘ ll just wait a while now . I am no expert in everything going on and it’s probably not my place to discuss all the various matters as of now but my view is we do not require an 8 acre area to stage greyhound racing racing . There was a lot of the grounds simply never used andI can see part of this being sold off , such as the divendend board and old speedway pits areas where some flats could be built similar to Shelbourne Park . There is a big shortage of student flat accommodation so that would keep the council happy . BelleVue stadium is the perfect venue to stage the Derby which would be a massive success !!
