Towcester kennel instructions Following recent action by GBGB, the Towcester management have issued the following statement to trainer in relation to race and trial kennelling. Kennelling TimesThere will be one fixed kennelling time for every meeting. All greyhounds (trials and races) must be kennelled within the allotted time. In accordance with GBGB Rule 112: ‘The Trainer of a Greyhound who fails to have such Greyhound in the Racing Kennel by the time appointed shall be reported to the Local Stewards, who may at their discretion disqualify the Greyhound from running at that Meeting and who shall in any case report the circumstances to the GBGB.’TuesdayKennel trial dogs: 16:30 – 16:45
Kennel race dogs: 16:45 – 17:30
Trials start: 17:40
Races start: 18:34Wednesday / Thursday / Friday / SundayKennel trial dogs: 13:00 – 13:15
Kennel race dogs: 13:15 – 14:00
Trials start: 14:10
Races start: 15:02Trial BookingsTrainers are required to make all trial bookings on a Monday morning for the forthcoming week.
To ensure that race dogs are not disturbed, trial dogs will be allocated a different block to racers. This will limit the number of trial kennels available, and coupled with the new time constraints around kennelling, we will have to limit the number of trials to 8 trials and solos cannot be guaranteed. This will be monitored closely, and we will increase the number of available trials if we have enough time to do so before racing.
These measures will resolve the recently published kennelling issues identified by the GBGB. If you have any queries or require further clarification, please contact the racing office. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.

::: Towcester extra trial sessions :::
The GBGB crackdown on kenneling at Towcester is forcing the track to introduce additional trial sessions.
Under GBGB rules, no greyhound can be kennelled for racing more than one hour and 45 minutes before the first race. In addition, a second rule means that no greyhound can trial unless it has been kennelled for at least 40 minutes.
Towcester’s Head of Racing James Chalkey said: “Effectively, we have a 40 minute window when we will be able to trial dogs. We are allowing for eight trials to take place during that time. We will monitor it and will stage more if it is feasible. We have plenty of kennel space, it is all down to timing.
“However, given the forthcoming demand for Derby trials, we are having to reorganise our sessions. We are hoping to stage extra trial sessions in three Tuesdays in May, though that is dependent on us being able to arrange veterinary cover.”
The stewards inquiry following the suspension of Racing Manager Andy Lisemore (over alleged breaches of kenneling times) is due to take place a week today.
