The recent Greyhound Trader sale at the recently opened Oxford on Tuesday 13th September saw history made when Drumcrow Mini, an April 21 daughter of Droopys Sydney by Drumcrow Blossom, made a staggering £16,300 at auction.
The young bitch, had just one line on her card, a 22.08 run for 400 yards at Dundalk back in early July.
She was purchased by a syndicate, will join Frank Gray’s kennels and look to compete in the very best of races at the Oxfordshire circuit in the very future.
The figure beat the previous British record of 12,600gns for Callmesteve at Sheffield Sales and smashed Greyhound Trader’s previous record of £12,500 for Savana Beau (who was a 2022 English Greyhound Derby finalist).
In total, just over £75,000 exchanged hands on the day with a high percentage of greyhounds being purchased to run at Oxford.
Speaking on the new record, James Corden said “It was incredible to watch the auction live as the bidding was relentless. There were 4 or 5 parties bidding up to about £8,000 and then it was just a duel after that!”
He continued “We were really happy with how our first sale at Oxford went and I was really impressed with the track and the facilities – it was my first time in Oxford and it looks like it will be a super track.”
Nathan Corden of Greyhound Trader said “It was another successful sale and the turnover was good, but what was really pleasing to see was how many of the greyhounds sold will stay locally with Oxford trainers.
We are starting to look at scheduling for 2023 (as we only have 5th October at Towcester and 3rd November at Yarmouth remaining this year) so if any tracks are looking at putting on sales then they can always get in touch with us.”

The scheduled Greyhound Trader sale at Towcester on Wednesday 5th October has been moved back by one week to Wednesday 12th October (Trials 10am and auction 12.30pm).
Nathan Corden says “We have a family funeral to attend and at the time of entries we were advised it could be mid to end of the week commencing 3rd October so rather than risk cancelling the sale at short notice it was simpler to push it back a week. Our vendors have been very understanding and we shall release the catalogue on Wednesday 5th October now.”
