PATRICK JANSSENS continued his early domination of Perry Barr’s Premier Greyhound Racing Oaks (480m) when sending out a double in Thursday’s second round, his Slick Sakina again proving fastest with a 28.18sec (going 0.10sec slow) heat five win and kennelmate Fabulous Azzura next quickest when landing heat three in 28.29sec.
Other winners were Angie Kibble’s Ballymac Intent (28.66sec) in a bunched first heat where local Mustang Kim and staying star Savana Ruinart also scrambled through after Coppice Jose seemed to get distracted in front on the run-in; the Pat Doocey’s Longacres Queen (28.53sec), Westwell Emer for Kevin Hutton in 28.51sec, and Marlene Westwood’s Orange Josie, soon clear in the finale (28.67sec). Favourite Whats Up Eva missed out here by a short-head in fourth.
In the supporting heats of the 275m Scurry, Mark Wallis’s Gougane Jet made it seven-wins-in-a-row when taking a messy heat six in 16.27sec; fastest was Eric Cantillon’s Newtown Sydney in the opener (15.91sec).
Thursday’s semi-final draws for the £20,000 to-the-winner Oaks and £5,000 Scurry will be made on Friday at the Greyhound Board.
