Greyhound racing and trials will remain suspended in the UK tomorrow as a mark of respect following the death of Her Majesty The Queen. Statement from GBGB on racing this weekend following the passing of HM The Queen Greyhound racing and trials will remain suspended in the UK tomorrow (Saturday) as a mark of respect following the death of Her Majesty The Queen, the GBGB announced today.
Fixtures for Friday were cancelled immediately after the announcement that Her Majesty had passed.
GBGB CEO Mark Bird said:
βIn line with colleagues from other sports, the Board wished to show the greyhound communityβs respect for The Queen. We are grateful that those tracks that were supposed to race tomorrow have now made the decisions not to race or trial.β
Racing will recommence again on Sunday, with meetings at Sunderland, Doncaster and Pelaw on Sunday morning and Swindon in the evening when it holds the second round of the Produce Stakes. The sport is expected to resume a full service again from Monday.
