GBGB Racing Operations Executive Scott Harvey said: โThe English Derby, St Leger and Oaks are the sportโs cornerstone events and now Owners and Trainers can start to plan for next year. Getting these dates out early for a second year running supports the tracks with their own planning process and gives the Open Race Planning Committee a solid foundation from which to start scheduling racing in 2024.โ
Towcester Racecourse Managing Director Kevin Boothby said: โIt is our privilege to bring this competition of cultural significance to Towcester Racecourse and weโre pleased to be confirmed as the host venue of the Derby for a fourth successive year in 2024.
โEvery person connected to greyhound racing dreams of one day lifting the Derby and this yearโs final was an outstanding success from start to finish. Weโre forecasting another bumper turnout of entries from both sides of the Irish Sea and look forward to the competitionโs launch in May.โ
Dave Baldwin, Head of Racing (Greyhounds) for ARC, said: โWe really enjoy supporting these two great Classics and itโs great to have the dates confirmed early so Owners and Trainers can plan.โ
Star Sportsโ owner Ben Keith said: โIโm delighted still to be living my dream as sponsor and betting at the Greyhound Derby. Iโm looking forward to next yearโs story developing and the greyhound racing family coming together once again.
Harvey further commented: โWeโve had a sensational run of open race action so far this year with some stand-out performances on the track, made all the more enjoyable by an uplift in Cat One events.
โTowcester and ARC have played a leading part in this and have yet again shown their commitment to the open race calendar. The switch to a Saturday format for both the finals of the Oaks and St Leger at Perry Barr was warmly welcomed by racegoers and they remain a weekend fixture in 2024, giving people the chance again to get up close to the Classics.โ
GBGB has asked all tracks to submit details for โestablishedโ and โnewโ events. These will then be announced once they have been organised into a cohesive schedule. Any new events for 2024 will be incorporated into the schedule wherever possible and the GBGB will aim to publish a calendar for the racing year by mid-November.

:::Perry Barr Stadium at risk in massive blow to greyhound racing and speedway:::
The historic track, a landmark in and out of Birmingham for nearly a century, is at centre of redevelopment plan. The future of one of Birminghamโs most iconic sporting landmarks is in jeopardy amid a pre-planning application involving a 660-home development proposal. Perry Barrโs 94-year-old stadium, off Aldridge Road, is, according to its leaseholders, at the heart of a โsignificant regeneration opportunityโ which could potentially signal the end of greyhound racing and speedway in Birmingham.
A pre-planning application was submitted to Birmingham City Council earlier this year outlining how the site had been earmarked for housing. This month, Arena Racing Company - which runs greyhound racing operations at Perry Barr - outlined its plans to develop a new greyhound racing track at Wolverhampton Racecourse.
A statement explained how ARC planned to make Wolverhampton โa landmark venue for greyhound racing, not just in the West Midlands but nationallyโ, sparking concern over the future of the sport at Perry Barr.
