Druids goes well in Oaks trials::::::
YARMOUTH Derby champion Druids Say Go laid down a massive marker for the forthcoming Premier Greyhound Racing Oaks with a flying 28.14sec trial on normal going over the 480m competition course at Perry Barr on Thursday.
The Patrick Janssens-trained bitch went fastest at a star-studded session that also included Phil Milner's prolific Towcester Empress Stakes winner Avongate Venus, who also moved well in a 28.37sec solo spin.
That time was bettered by two spots by another Category One winner as Kevin Proctor's Romford Golden Sprint champion Front Alice posted 28.35sec, while Janssens' Fabulous Terra went round in 28.37sec. Carol Weatherall's Untold Florin clocked 28.47sec.
Quickest at Wednesday's session was Nathan Hunt's Icemans Girl, the Empress Stakes runner-up recording 28.55sec (-20).
Liz McNair's high profile team of Queen Joni, Queen Shakira and Queen Dusty are booked in for trials on Tuesday, with the £20,000-to-the-winner Classic closing that day.
The competition will be run over four consecutive Saturday nights staring on October 5, with the final, supported by that of the £7,500 Arc Scurry Gold Cup (275m), set for October 26.

Perry Barr Greyhound Stadium
No greyhound has EVER defended the Premier Greyhound Racing St Leger in its 96 year history❗️
Can Droopys Clue become the first to do so at 9.20pm for trainer Seamus Cahill ❓
Best wishes to all connections running in tonight's £20,000 feature race 🏆

News from the Barr. . .
Dan Bradshaw, deputy racing manager at Perry Barr, is hopeful of a high-class entry for the Premier Greyhound Racing Oaks, which closes at 11am tomorrow (Tuesday, October 1).
For 72 runners over 480m, the bitches’ Classic starts on Saturday and follows hot on the heels of the Premier Greyhound Racing St Leger and M Lambe Construction Birmingham Cup which concluded on Saturday with an historic victory for Droopys Clue in the six-bend feature.
However, the Midlands track is not resting on its Laurels (yes, that’s another PB ever-present!) with the start of the Oaks this weekend – and time will tell whether the requisite number of entries will be met.
“It will be difficult to get the full 72 entries but we can only try,” added Bradshaw, who oversaw Saturday’s Category One double-header. “Martin’s (Seal, Perry Barr RM) away just now, although was here the previous week when the meeting had to be abandoned. It was a pleasure to oversee Saturday’s big meeting here – a real buzz.”
On the Oaks entry, he added: “We’ve probably the best two bitches in the UK entered in Avongate Venus and Druids Say So. Both trialled really well here and, all things being equal, will go far in the event.
“But we’ve a locally trained bitch called Chakra, trained by Tony Harmes, who we’re expecting to go well in competition. Tony won the Laurels earlier this year with Kilwest Ranger.”
