SNEYD WINS THE ALBERT GOLDTHORPE MEDAL
Marc went into the final round of Super League matches two points ahead of Mikey. And when I saw that he wasnโt going to take to the field against Wigan last Thursday evening I wondered whether he would be pipped at the post if Mikey had a stormer against Leeds Rhinos the following evening.
As it turned out, Mikey did indeed have a good game for the Robins, but the standout star on the evening was hooker Matt Parcell, who collected three points, with Mikey only being awarded one point by our reporter Mark Chestney (Peta Hiku was awarded two points) and so he just fell short.
So our congratulations go to Marc, who has had a good weekend, having been named in Super League Dream Team, while our readers have also decided (see the opposite page) that Marc is the unluckiest player not to have been selected in Shaun Waneโs 31-man squad that will prepare for this autumnโs Test series against Samoa. And of course he may still win the Steve Prescott Man of Steel award, which will be announced early next month. |

PAUL ROWLEY NAMES SQUAD FOR PLAYOFF ELIMINATOR
After 27 gruelling rounds of Betfred Super League action, results on Friday night confirmed a fourth place finish for the Red Devils.
It is an achievement that hands us one more dance at home with our people, who have already shown their incredible backing by breaking the Salford Community Stadium attendance record.
SQUAD NEWS
With a spot in the top six already secure, Rowley was able to rest his key players who have played long minutes all season and hand eight Super League debuts to members of our Reserve grade set-up.
That means this weekโs squad reverts to type and all our regular first-grade stars return to the fold refreshed and ready to take on the Leopards.
Amongst the list is Brad Singleton, who is set to make his 300th career appearance. Another prop who impressed in Round 27, Adam Sidlow retains his place in the 21.
Loghan Lewis is available after a slight groin issue reoccurrence in our trip to Hull FC earlier this month.
