Latest News - Reflex quick to deliver cost savings at tracks and GBGB
24/04/2013
GBGB greyhound ID books will be phased out in the coming months on the successful completion of a pilot scheme running throughout April and May at four racecourses, resulting in time and cost efficiencies in racing offices and at Procter House. Greyhounds at Pelaw Grange, Kinsley, Hove and Sheffield are currently being registered using Reflexview and scan markings used for identification.
Reflexview is a computer program now installed at all GBGB-licensed tracks that links to a central database where detailed records of all registered greyhounds can be accessed 24/7 by racing offices. Tracks can search for greyhounds by name or registration number, view breeding, offence, status and last-run information.
Crucially, racing offices can now print out markings sheets and Registrar Dave Levy believes the project will deliver considerable cost savings: “As well as Reflex being a real time saver, once the new system is fully operational the postage will be vastly reduced. At present we receive and send out between 300 and 400 ID books and their accompanying forms each week.
“If all goes to plan, from June onwards all changes to a greyhound’s ID will be recorded using Reflex. We have an automated processing application that converts paper forms eg. registrations and licence applications into electronic data so reducing the need for manual data entry.”
Amendments to the Rules of Racing are required to enact the changes on a permanent basis, already agreed and approved by the GBGB Board. All rule amendments and changes to GBGB regulatory and welfare policy will continue to be published in the GBGB Calendar.
