DOG SHORTAGE AT THE ZOO ?
Getting this thread back on track.
'IF' there is a greyhound shortage at this time at the ZOO then I fully expected to see a reduction in the race cards on a Friday [12] and Saturday [13] evening starting this coming week...

NO GREYHOUNDS MAKING THERE DEBUT'S THIS COMING FRIDAY EVENING...
I SUPPOSE WITH THERE BEING NO TRIAL SESSION LAST TUESDAY THAT COULD BE THE REASON FOR IT?
AND AS WE ALL KNOW NO GREYHOUNDS CAN GO ONTO THE BAGS CARDS WITHOUT HAVING AT LEAST ONE RACE BEFORE HAND....
THE MAIN THING IS WE STILL HAVE A 13 RACE MEETING TO LOOK FORWARD ON FRIDAY NIGHT THAT'S SOMETHING.....

I AGREE WITH YOU 'GARY' BUT WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE RACE CARD YOU WILL FIND ONLY ONE SEEDED WIDE RUNNER [W] IN THE LINE UP.
SO WHO'S REALLY TO BLAME THE GRADER OR THE TRAINER'S WHO HAVE NOT INSISTED ON HAVING A WIDE TAG NOT PLACED TO THERE GREYHOUNDS ?

THEN IT'S ABOUT TIME THE GBGB INSTRUCTED ALL GREYHOUND TRACKS TO INTRODUCE SEEDING IN ALL GRADED RACES AND NOT JUST IN THOSE BGRF BONUS SERIES EVENTS.
AT THE END OF THE DAY SEEDING IN GRADED RACES MUST IN THE LONG RUN PROVE TO MAKE RACING SAFER / CLEANER AND TROUBLE FREE ON THE DASH TO THE FIRST COUPLE OF BENDS AND THEN AS WE ALL KNOW MOST RACES HAVE BEEN SORTED OUT BY THAT STAGE.

This problem arises because of the need for reserves to be available for BAGS meetings. Some dogs have had their wide tag removed for a BAGS meeting, because they are in trap 5, only for it to be reinstated the following week because they are not on the BAGS. i.e. if the 6 is withdrawn when the 5 is seeded wide, only a wide-seeded reserve can run.
If for some reason the wide tag is not reinstated then the dog can sometimes end up a long way from the outside, as happened in this case.
It's all about the money - vacant traps on the BAGS means the track's payment for the race is reduced.

Apart from a shortage of owners, are the racing office short of railers or wide runners? not long ago they did not seem to have enough wide runners, now we seem to have a dearth of railers, on another note I/we could not get trap 3 for one of the dogs
