LENSON WILSON was forced to dig deep by Droopys Trawler but still went quickest as trainer Rick Holloway continue his domination of the RPGTV Champion Hurdle over 480m at Central Park on Sunday, writes Jonathan Kay.
The reigning champion quickly hit the front but Droopys Trawler turned in a pitch and loomed up as a big threat along the back straight.
However, Lenson Wilson was determined in front and beat off the challenge a shade comfortably in the end, scoring by one and a half lengths in 29.18sec with Grand National champion Caislean Fifi well back but qualifying in third.
Holloway’s Turnhouse Jet was a more emphatic winner of the second semi, leading from the outset and drawing away to beat Piemans Bullet by six lengths in 29.38sec with slow-starting Forest Capri coming through late for third.
Draw for Sunday’s final: 1 Piemans Bullet, 2 Droopys Trawler, 3 Turnhouse Jet (m), 4 Lenson Wilson (m), 5 Forest Capri (w), 6 Caislean Fifi (w).

TURNHOUSE JET completed an unbeaten run through the competition by smashing out of traps and making all to land the £8,000 RPGTV Champion Hurdle final over 480m at Central Park on Sunday evening, writes Jonathan Kay.
In doing so, Rick Holloway's dog completed a memorable Category One clean sweep for Central Park-trained greyhounds following Skip Mayo's Guys & Dolls victory at Crayford on Saturday and Bockos Doomie's Puppy Derby win at Henlow earlier in the day.
The result was never really in doubt after Turnhouse Jet, 4-1, pinged with favoured kennelmate Lenson Wilson always on the back foot after missing the break.
Droopys Trawler did go round second and kept the leader honest throughout but Turnhouse Jet jumped well in front and stayed on strongly to claim the prize by a length in 29.59sec with Grand National winner Caislean Fifi third.
“These were the best hurdlers in the country and fair play to everyone in the race,” said Holloway afterwards.
“That's my fourth Champion Hurdle and to do it again is absolutely brilliant. The owners [Mark Cottle & Robert Grant] are down from Scotland and I'm very grateful to them for giving me the chance to train him.
“I think they thought I was mad when I said Turnhouse Jet could be the next Lenson Wilson as it just wasn't happening for but the penny suddenly dropped.”
Supporting finals over 450m and 642m went to Jean Liles's Salacres Bigjim (27.98sec) and Patrick Janssens' Affleck Bolt (40.81sec) respectively.
