Jim Austin: developed the Racing Post app Greyhound Bet
RP app Greyhound Bet looks a real winner
THE free Racing Post app Greyhound Bet was officially launched yesterday when an iPhone version of the app followed the recent soft launch of the smartphone-friendly web app . An Android version should also be live this week.
Developed from the ground up by RP greyhound guru Jim Austin to give greyhound enthusiasts a powerful tool on their smartphone, the app is a comprehensive product for all betting needs. Users will be able to access form, statistics, tipping, news and results within one easy-to-use package.
Racecards for all UK licensed tracks, including Harold’s Cross and Shelbourne in Ireland, can be viewed in significance or chronological order.
Each card view will show a minimum of five formlines for every greyhound, a spotlight comment, Topspeed ratings, SP forecast and live betting shows when available – with price movements logged – and up-to-date status of many races.
As well as the race formlines, users can drill down into the background of each greyhound by clicking on its name to reveal its career form, including all trials, since it was registered to race in the UK.
Full track-specific statistics for every runner include overall wins/runs ratio, trap record, class record and combined trap and class record, plus the recent record for each particular trap
An easy-to-view tipping section shows all the Racing Post picks for each meeting on a single page.
For each race there is a suggested winner and the strength of that pick, plus a suggestion for combinations forecasts and tricasts
The popular online Racing Post Predictor is also available on every race, comprising a visualisation as to how the race may pan out based on recent performances. A key function for punters will be a simple one click betting function, linked directly to partner bookmaker William Hill.
Full results are available for every race, including comments-in-running, plus a short style, at-a-glance page per meeting for easy reference.
All the current news stories as they appear on racingpost.com, including regularly nightly reports from the main action around the tracks, plus tipping pieces will also be available.
Racing Post greyhound editor Paul Brown said: “There’s nothing like this app anywhere else, it’s what all greyhound enthusiasts have been waiting for.
“Anyone that knows Jim Austin is aware he’s knows what a punter looks for when it comes to greyhound racing, be it figuring out a bet or searching for results, and Jim has come up with goods.”
The app is available from the Apple store for iPhone, plus a web app (www.greyhoundbet.co.uk) which will work on most smartphones and BlackBerrys.
The Android version will be available through GetJar and in the meantime Android users can use the web app.
