The stadium offers 600 free* car parking spaces in close proximity to the stadium, including accessible and convenient disabled parking, as well as ample coach parking spaces for groups.

On match days, the 600 parking places on a permanent tarmac surface are mostly pre-booked by season ticket holders.

Matchday car parking tickets cost £5.00 per vehicle and must be pre-purchased at the stadium or through Ticketline up until 10.00pm the night before the game.

There is additional temporary parking available on extra gravelled areas which can be paid for on the day.

Planned roadworks

Please note that there are a number of large scale roadworks and improvement programmes planned in the A57 region over the coming year that may affect your travel arrangements.

The A57 road improvement programme is a major project designed to reduce congestion and journey times and includes a brand new road, giving alternative access routes to the stadium. In the short term, there is also a new ‘traffic flow’ system being planned along the A57 at peak times and on event days at the stadium.

In addition to these planned projects, United Utilities are also upgrading their sewers and water pipes in the area and National Grid are upgrading their gas pipes.

Manchester United made an impressive debut at the Salford City Stadium, overcoming a first-half power cut and a table-topping Tottenham side to record a valuable 1-0 triumph.

Although the margin of victory was slim, this was a heartening display by Warren Joyce's side with Adnan Januzaj and Jesse Lingard particularly lively and Ryan Tunnicliffe scoring the only goal of the game and producing a memorable celebration to mark the moment.

United started off with Reece James in a wide midfield role with no Nick Powell in the side and Tunnicliffe pushing forward to join roaming forward Januzaj.

There was an early disruption to the plans when Frederic Veseli was taken off on a stretcher in some pain after appearing to pull his hamstring when chasing a delightful through ball by Larnell Cole.

Tyler Blackett replaced the Swiss youngster and slotted into right-midfield with only 10 minutes on the clock. Spurs would already have been ahead but for Ben Amos' superb save as he dived to his right to keep out Cristian Ceballos after the visiting forward robbed Michele Fornasier.

The Reds enjoyed a good spell of pressure with Lingard and Januzaj both firing wide of Lawrence Vigouroux's right-hand post. Lingard collected the ball after Januzaj released Tunnicliffe but his fine attempt was inches off target and, three minutes later, Januzaj bent a glorious shot just as close following Charni Ekangamene's biting tackle in midfield.

Acrobatics from Vigouroux denied Tunnicliffe and Lingard as Warren Joyce's side continued to press but Spurs replied with a wild shot from Laste Dombaxe after a rare error by captain Tom Thorpe. Amos had to divert a skidding free-kick by Younes Kaboul off target but the second half ended with thepitch shrouded in gloom following a power cut.

The referee decided to see out the final few minutes without the floodlights and, thankfully, electricity was restored in time for the second period despite the problem affecting the entire local area and not just the stadium.

The North Londoners suffered a blow when Kaboul limped off soon after the restart but went close with a Ceballos free-kick that clipped the top of the bar. The near-miss seemed to spur United into action as the hosts produced a spell of flowing football that led to the deadlock being broken.

Januzaj latched onto a through ball by the lively Lingard but was denied by a block from Vigouroux in a one-on-one situation. Seconds later, Tunnicliffe bore down on goal after good play by James and Lingard, managed to beat former colleague Zeki Fryers, and prodded past Vigouroux to open the scoring.

Although Shaquile Coulthirst forced one save out of Amos, the Reds were now in full flow and should have extended the lead. Larnell Cole stormed down the middle to tee up Lingard, only for Vigouroux to stick out a big hand as the winger attempted to take the ball around him. Cole then tried his luck himself but his shot cannoned off the far post with Vigouroux well beaten.

There was no let-up and Tunnicliffe fed Cole again but, although chipping was the right option, he could not get the correct trajectory on his shot and Vigouroux saved comfortably.

Januzaj felt he should have had a penalty after substitute Blackett was withdrawn through injury and dazzled with some of his footwork.

United were able to keep Spurs at bay to keep yet another clean sheet this level and move above Liverpool into second place in the table - five points behind the capital club with a game in hand.


Friday's fixture at Old Trafford against the Merseysiders has, however, been postponed due to Liverpool's involvement in the FA Youth Cup.

An attendance of 2,183 was impressive and the supporters could not complain after many caught a sight of Sir Alex in the stand and saw a fine display by the young United side.
