Derby Day

Today at 4.00pm sees the Derby run at Epsom.

Not my favourite race to be honest but something has caught my attention. 

Jim Magrath of Channel 4 and timeform fame goes for 100/1 shot Mirsalle trained by James tate.

I for one will be having a few bob each way to win a week in the Maldives .  Nice.

Think you are right Jimmy.  A very good judge once told me that the 3 most important things in a derby contender are 1, they truly stay a mile and a half,2, They truly stay a mile and a half and 3,Thay truly stay a mile and a half

Still after my health problems a week in The Maldives should do me good

It was interesting to hear the trainer of the 'jolly' say that the horse will never race again over 1 1/2 miles?

But in saying that what a wonderful horse the winner was....

Winner was son off the great Galileo and half brother to duke of marmalade so its got the potential in its breeding to be the best

Its bang right about being a true stayer . It really is a tough track with an uphill finish. You know its not your day .I backed Ryan Moore in the first 2 races and he then wins the 2 races where I back something else.

Worse things have happened at sea and I still love the game.

Blackpool prom here we come!!!
