THE NEW DROP-OFF CURTAIN AT THE ZOO
Well it's been a long time coming but at yesterday's Bags meeting the new drop-off curtain was in use for the first time.
Hopefully this will solve the problem of our greyhound doing extra laps of the track when the race has finished.
It's been an on going problem at the track for a number of months now, but after seeing it at first hand yesterday I'm sure it can only benefit the welfare of our greyhounds in the future.

Bound to be a few teething problems 'nike'
Let's hope the track staff sort it out over the next few meetings.

I watched the curtain in action last Saturday there was a few problems with the wind.
At Nottingham the curtain is more ridged and there is no way any greyhound can get passed it when it's in place.
One thing that did concern me though was at the pre-race trial session not all of the handlers waiting to catch there greyhounds were using the new curtain..
In this hot weather no way should our greyhound be allowed to get loose and do extra laps.
I will be watching with great interest on my next few visit's to the ZOO and if things don't improve then I will be contacting the General Manager and the Racing Manager with my thoughts and opinion on this subject.

At least 3 or 4 races on bags this Wednesday and at least 8 or 9 trials on Thursday never even got to the curtain through the persistent removal of the lure after every race, why can it not be taken away once the dogs reach the back straight. Is it any wonder youngsters and several experienced dogs have downed tools in front, through the continuation of hare driving of such poor quality, dogs are stopping at the 670m boxes regularly and more often than not end up turning there heads eventually.Never mind the oaks? next year we will be having the grand national.

These curtains are not perfect at other venues around the country, I noticed tonight on the SKY Sports programme from Nottingham one greyhounds ducked under there curtain after one race.
Like 'JC' has already stated above these greyhounds are not as daft as some people think!
