Teejays Bluehawk produced a scintillating display in recording the fastest time of three semi-finals of the Coral Sussex Cup and the Paul Young-trained raider will go into Wednesday's final, which is live on Sky Sports as the one to beat in what is a mouth-watering contest over 515m.

Having been handed the red jacket the Greyhound Derby semi-finalist will look to maintain his position on the inside and produce his customary back straight surge and look to land the prize, but there will be some lively challengers and none more so than Express Master who will be bidding for first bend superiority for Chris Allsopp.

The pair dominate the betting and Express Master will be hoping to ping the lids and aim to pull clear of Teejays Bluehawk in what should be a cracking clash, but they will both have to deal with the speedy Loughteen Blanco on their outside, who from trap three could feature in this event and look to go one better than last year.

Bridge Honcho may not have the perfect draw in box six, but on his day he can produce the goods and can't be discounted, whilst the pairing of Longwood Bound and Teejaysblackhawk add tremendous depth to what should be an epic final at the south coast venue.

Blanco pulls off 10-1 Sussex Cup triumph



LOUGHTEEN BLANCO (10-1) went one better than in 2012 when capitalising on a catapult break to make all and land the £10,000 Coral Sussex Cup final over 515m at Hove.

Seamus Cahill’s dog found Westmead Maldini too strong in the final last year but dug deep this time when it mattered most to repel Express Master, forced to check when challenging on the run-in, and favourite Teejays Bluehawk, taken off his feet early before really rattling home, in 29.58sec.

Dennis Fiore, who owns the October 2009 dog with Alf Ashe and Shaun Gresham, said afterwards: “Seamus and [wife] Teresa have done brilliantly. He had a little injury and was running badly but they’ve got him back.”

It was a second title on the night for the Cahill kennel as his Droopys Posh had earlier impressed in the final of the Brightondogs.co.uk Ladies over 515m, powering clear from three-quarters to beat Zenas Elena by more than four lengths in 29.62sec.

There was a tremendous start to proceedings when emerging star Zenas Boy showed his rivals a clean pair of heels in the final of the Coral.co.uk Sprint over 285m.

After breaking pretty well, the 4-5 favourite sped away from his rivals as Gemma Davidson’s dog made it five wins in six starts at the track by coming home nearly two lengths clear of outsider Kizi in recording 15.96sec, just seven spots outside Jimmy Lollie’s track record.

Paul Young landed the puppy final for the second year running courtesy of Jaytee Lightning who emulated kennelmate Teejays Bluehawk’s 2012 achievement when leading early in the 515m event and digging deep to repel market principals Global Hawk and Droopys London in 29.63sec.
