Muscial Gaga: 2013 Paddy Power TV Trophy champion Musical Gaga storms to TV Trophy triumph MUSICAL GAGA made class tell as well as showing tremendous determination to land the £8,000 Paddy Power TV Trophy final over 843m at Yarmouth on Wednesday.
Dean Childs’s bitch was a somewhat uneasy 1-2 favourite despite her track record run in the heats and things did not immediately look promising as she made a modest start with defending champion Blonde Reagan taking the field along.
However, Musical Gaga got into second going along the back straight for the first time and then set about closing down the leader, powering to the front before the penultimate turn and drawing clear to beat Blonde Reagan by nearly six lengths in 52.94sec.
Incitatus stayed on late to claim third, while Farloe Tango dropped back to fourth having looked in a handy pitch at halfway only to be stopped in his run on a couple of occasions.
Childs said afterwards: “It was a fantastic race, it was never going to be given to her. She’s a super class bitch and I’m delighted for the whole team, it’s a brilliant effort.
“She was bowling along in front last week but had to dig deep this time and showed she can do it either way.”
Seamus Cahill enjoyed a fruitful time on the supporting card when landing a treble highlighted by a near-record run from Guinness Sky in a sprint. His winning time of 16.20sec was just one spot outside the 277m clock held jointly by Farloe Barracuda and Monleek Town.
Cahill’s other winners were Droopys Posh, who powered past Swift Keith late on to take the 462m puppy open in 27.57sec, and Droopys Reason who landed a dogs’ contest over the same distance in 27.95sec.
Paul Young fared nearly as well with a double courtesy of Airtech Alflie (27.74sec) over 462m and Bubbly Swallow (40.57sec) over 659m, while there were wins over two, four and eight bends respectively for Charlie Lister’s Wacker (16.43sec), John Mullins’s Donnys Angel (27.71sec) and Spencer Mavrias’s Priceless Max (53.45sec).
