Has anyone had a problem of having nowhere to sit when racing starts. It can be a long night if you have dogs racing especially later on in the card and the last thing you want is to find after you've finished trialling that when you go into the upstairs grandstand is to find the reserved area for trainers has been taken up by racegoers. Last night I went into the grandstand with our kid after trialling and the seated area reserved for trainers had been taken up by Joe public cos the reserve signs were not put out on the tables. Our last runner was at 22.10pm. We eventually sat behind June so you know where I'm talking about. I'm not asking for the crown jewels but at least a chair for trainers and owners should clearly be marked out at every meeting.

What's needed is an owners and trainers lounge, a private lounge area just for owners and there family, trainers and there staff. A private lounge with sofas, tables and chairs, big screen TV's. Private complimentary bar and buffet. With access granted to the owners, trainers and conections who have greyhounds taking part on that evenings card. Owners and trainers should be treated like gold dust by the tracks.

'appleton'
The same thing has happended again tonight at the track the owners/trainer area was full of six-packers.
By right a notice is supposed to be put on a number of tables saying Reserved for Owners.
Just lately this practice has stopped for some unknown reason.
This facility was set up by the BV GM Mick Hardy and he needs to be made aware that his instructions are not being carried out at the Friday and Saturday meetings by the security staff on duty.

I appreciate where you are coming from Appleton, I have the same problems myself - even more so when one leaves your seat to place a bet and return only to find some else has taken it! This is a thorny problem, with various answers but perhaps not necessarily completely suitable solutions. Various ideas are currently under consideration by management. What you ask for - in truth, is just far too much and not practical because it just isn't feasible - for various reasons. The consideration we have in place at the moment - is not a given right, it is a concession under trial, with said notices (when in place) being removed at an agreed time of 8.30pm. During this trial period there been a few occasions when there have been very few people in this area - which in itself causes problems when so called six-packers complain - and generally there are only two trainers/very occasionally 3 - use this area on a regular basis to my knowledge - the area is for both trainers and owners, some - like yourself, having problems getting a seat. For the record - I am led to believe that this problem is still ongoing - still under serious consideration, with alternative/additional plans in mind as we speak! The major problem here, is one of communication - or lack of it, and very often this can be down to ourselves, moaning and not doing! I am not having a go at yourself - nor anyone else for that matter, but I have stated before, here on the forum - anyone with genuine serious gripes prepared to discuss these in a sensible manner, will help us all move forward and make progress by talking with management face to face. This can be arranged - anyone prepared to give this a try, pm me, I am sure we can sort something out in order that we air a few problems for the good of everyone! Al

I agree with cowboy Joe regarding a trainers and owners lounge on race nights. Somewhere to relax and be comfortable until it's your dog's race, but more important, a place to entertain your owners. Greyhound racing is an expensive sport, buying the dog, paying rearing fees, vets and schooling fees and then training fees on a monthly basis. The least any track should provide are facilities for their trainers and owners, providing a finger buffet would not be a lot to ask nor would it be expensive to provide.if anyone wants a drink from the bar, let them pay for it. The main topic for discussion is "look after those who look after you". The track should think more of the trainers, kennel staff and owners. On race days having starting my building work at 7.30am daily, I go to Darrens in the afternoon before leaving for belle vue. By the time we get back at the kennels and have fed the racers and let the other dogs out into the paddocks it's around 23.30pm and we are only half an hour from belle vue. What about trainers who live further away. What time do they finish?. Even later. The next day they do it all again. So the least the track can provide is a chair!!

Let me quote from manseefan,s bible. Based on my first chapter. He said" What you ask for in truth is just far too much and not practical because it's just isnt feasible for various reasons. All I am asking is for a space to be allocated for me to sit for the evening when we have runners on the card. I'm not asking for a kidney, only a chair!!!

Appleton - your ref:I agree with cowboy Joe regarding a trainers and owners lounge on race nights. Somewhere to relax and be comfortable until it's your dog's race, but more important, a place to entertain your owners. Then you say your asking for much - just a chair! Not much difference then?

The big problem down at the ZOO these days at the Friday and Saturday evening meetings is that the crowds are massive and seating is at a premium.
I have visited a few tracks this year and I can tell you the attendances at the ZOO are big compared with a lot of venues.
I can fully understand where your coming from 'appleton' but in truth at the likes of Nottingham, Sheffield, Kinsley to name a few they don't have any special areas set out for trainers so I can't see the Belle Vue management doing anything on this one.

And of course such a facility would be great not just at Belle Vue but at every other greyhound track in the Country.
