HOPEFULLY WE WILL SEE A PERMIT TRAINER HAVING A RUNNER OR TWO IN THIS YEARS GREYHOUND DERBY AT TOWCESTER?
I THINK IT'S GREAT THAT SOME TRACKS HAVE INVITED PERMIT TRAINERS TO SUPPLY GRADED RUNNERS ARE THERE VENUES BUT I WAS EXPECTING TO SEE MORE PERMIT TRAINERS HITTING THE OPEN RACE CIRCUIT..
PERHAPS IN TIME THEY WILL.

Mr Paul Ephremsen The GBGB is pleased to announce that Paul Ephremsen has won the election to be the Practitioner Director (Owners) on the main GBGB board securing 764 votes, compared with 630 for Bob Boswell from the total of 1,394 votes cast. There were three spoiled ballot cards.
Paul Ephremesen said: “I’m delighted to have won the vote for Practitioner Director (Owners) and hope I can make a positive contribution to the Board in the coming months. I intend to ensure that, over time, owners throughout Great Britain have a voice and have new communication channels for their ideas to be heard. This is not a one man job and I fully intend to seek the help and support of many owners to achieve some common goals. I hope this can be the start of a new, more open way of communication between the GBGB and greyhound owners.
“I would like to mention Bob Boswell, the other shortlisted candidate who I met during the process. I hope to be able to work with Bob, particularly on his specialist area of welfare and I will be in contact with him soon.
“I will be making every effort to focus on the issues mentioned in my manifesto and promise to approach the role with enthusiasm, openness and honesty.
Bob Boswell said: “I would like to wish Paul all the best in the role and would be happy to work with him to promote the interests of greyhound racing in general and owners in particular. I attended the count which was carried out professionally and efficiently by Barnes Roffe staff and, although I’m naturally disappointed, I am delighted that there was such a good level of interest.”
GBGB Chief Executive Barry Faulkner said: “I would like to congratulate Paul and look forward to welcoming him to our scheduled Board meeting on 18th May and working with him thereafter. We were fortunate to have two excellent candidates for the ballot. I would like to thank Bob for his involvement in this process and would hope that his talents will continue to be available to greyhound racing.”

The very best of luck to Paul Ephremsen is this new role.
He was not my choice but I wish him well and here's hoping he can make a difference long term.

GBGB CEO announces retirement.....
18/05/2017
Barry Faulkner today informed the Board of his intention to step down as Chief Executive in November this year on reaching his 65th birthday. Mr Faulkner took up his position in May 2010 has recently completed seven years in the role.
Mr Faulkner said, “The last seven years have proved tough going for greyhound racing which was particularly badly impacted as the recession bit.
However, regardless of how difficult it has been, it has never been dull. My team at the GBGB have shown admirable commitment during my tenure to ensure that the services provided by them for the benefit of the sport never diminished.
I believe we are now making progress with regard to putting the sport on a more secure financial footing and I will be focussed in the upcoming months on working with Tom Kelly in our efforts to secure improved funding for the sport.”
GBGB Director Clive Feltham said “Barry has been an excellent chief executive guiding the sport through difficult times. It has sometimes been a thankless task but Barry has always served the board diligently and with good grace. His leadership of the GBGB staff has inspired them to deliver consistently good service to the industry and they will miss him, as will the Board of directors. We wish all him all the very best in his retirement.”
GBGB interim chairman Robert Griffiths QC added “Since joining the Board as an independent director in 2015, I have been impressed with Barry’s dedication and diligence. The sport has been lucky to have a chief executive of Barry’s calibre and he will prove a very hard act to follow”. The GBGB nominations committee will meet shortly to agree a procedure to find a new Chief Executive and then a new Chairman. The nominations committee is comprised of the independent directors Robert Griffiths and Peter Webbon and the RCPA representative Clive Feltham.
