TODAY we have to withdraw ambrose. the hock injury he has carried from a puppy has flared up again.bev has been masterful on being able to contain it after each run. it has now come against him. [he had this condition even though he did the clock at bv, it's down as equaling it.but he was normal the other was 10 fast.] to those he has cost money we say sorry.[anti post] we left as late as we could trying to get him right and some of the brightest greyhound brains were consulted but they agreed we were doing the best we could., it just didn't work.it's still swollen but he is putting it down a thing he couldn't do on Monday. it is the unfortunate side of greyhounds.but its a part of the racing game. WE DO WISH ALL THE OTHER CONTESTANTS THE VERY BEST OF LUCK. will he return to racing we shall have to see?

TERRIBLE NEWS for all concerned.
Here's hoping 'AMBROSE' can return to racing in the very near future...
Like you say above Dave that's the racing game for you...

As a joint owner of this dog, Iām very disappointed but am far more disappointed for Bev given the work she has put in with this dog over a considerable period of time. The rewards have been equalling a long standing track record on normal going when the original record was set on 20 fast going, unofficially beating the 590 track record in a trial on normal going when the original was set on 20 fast and decisively winning the Northern Flat. We had hoped to run the dog in the Derby this year though circumstances have caused a delay in this competition being held and the Steel City Cup was to be his next step. It would have been a feather in the cap of the dog and Trainer to have won a category 1 competition and Ambrose had IMO a great chance to win the final tonight having never been beaten when wearing the black sheet. I hope that all the remaining five finalists return safely and the race is won by the best dog on the night.

Lame Ambrose misses Steel City showdown...
By MR JONATHAN KAY of the RACING POST 3:10PM 21st MARCH 2020
BALLYMAC AMBROSE is out of tonight's RPGTV Steel City Cup final at Sheffield, leaving trap four vacant in what is the final UK open race before suspension due to the coronavirus infection.
"He's always had problems with a hock and it's something we work on after every run," said trainer Bev Heaton.
"It didn't seem any worse than normal after the semi-final last weekend, but it just hasn't come right and we've had to withdraw him.
"Obviously there isn't going to be any open-racing for a while, but hopefully we'll get him back. It's just very frustrating to miss out on the chance at such a big race."
The November 2016 dog was officially withdrawn from the Ā£10,000 final at 2pm.
