:: Entain and Arc tracks introduce second kennelling :: BY JONATHAN KAY OF THE RACING POSTTHE four Entain Group tracks are to offer a second kennelling time as standard at all meetings with immediate effect, while Arena Racing Company is to roll such a system out to all its stadia having already offered it at Nottingham.
So far as Entain is concerned, trainers with runners at Crayford, Hove, Monmore and Romford will now have the option of a later arrival for those greyhounds competing in the second half of meetings.
Entain director of racing Ian Smyth said: “We have listened to the feedback from GBGB owners representative Paul Carpenter and also from a number of our regular open-race trainers and plan to introduce the change for both graded and open-race meetings.
“We will operate a second kennelling for anybody only involved in the second half of any our meetings.
“Trainers wishing to take advantage should get in touch with the relevant racing office at least 24 hours before the meeting to allow us to ensure we are adequately set up to manage the later arrivals.
“We will also be able to confirm arrival times at that stage, which will obviously differ by day of week and race times.”
Rachel Corden, greyhound operations director for Arc, said: “Second kennelling time has always been in place at Nottingham for all meetings and at some stadia for open-race fixtures.
“Paul Carpenter has raised valid points on kennelling time and we will now be rolling this out across our other stadia – Central Park, Newcastle, Perry Barr and Sunderland – from next week.
“Our racing offices will communicate with trainers in respect of timings and the process for booking in, in advance, for second kennelling over the next few days.” |
