A pre-race sample taken from the greyhound LITTLE EMIR from the first round of the Derby has returned a positive analysis and has subsequently been disqualified from this competition per GBGB rule 173(ii).
The trainer, Gary Carmichael, and Towcester racecourse have been informed.

LITTLE EMIR will not run in heat six of Friday's second round of the Star Sports/TRC English Derby after a pre-race sample taken from the dog in the opening round tested returned a positive analysis.
The Gary Carmichael-trained dog, who made all to land heat 21 last week, is disqualified from the competition as per GBGB rule 173(ii), and it is a case of history repeating itself as Little Emir was disqualified from last year's Derby for a positive at the same stage.
On that occasion the July 2018 dog showed traces of an unnamed non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug which has previously been associated with the food chain, and the Disciplinary Committee determined that it was appropriate to take no further action towards Carmichael.
