 GBGB trainer John Mullins has his second set of graded runners at Yarmouth on Wednesday but remains firmly committed to being a Towcester trainer. The Suffolk based handler has two runners last week and another couple tomorrow.
He said: “Simon (Franklin) phoned me and asked if I could help out with a few runners in the top heat and I was pleased to do so; I’ve always loved Yarmouth. It’s closer too, 70 miles compared to 125.
“We have a few dogs that are better suited to Yarmouth and the change keeps them fresh. I haven’t decided how many will end up there, probably ten or twelve.
“But that doesn’t alter my commitment to Towcester. I think it is the best track in the country. I love the place and the way all the trainers and kennel staff are treated with respect, from the paddock staff through to the management.
“There seem to be quite a few trainers who are dual attached now and I think there will be even more when Oxford opens. That place will be buzzing every Friday and Saturday night.
“There are probably a few who might have problems with contracts, but I’ve never signed one. I don’t agree with them.” |
