TOWCESTER / YARMOUTH SWITCH SALES DATES Greyhound Traderβs scheduled sale at Yarmouth on Thursday 21st July has been transferred to Towcester and will be held on FRIDAY 22nd JULY.
Explaining the switch Nathan Corden said βWe are being proactive by switching our Yarmouth sale (scheduled for 21st July) to Thursday 3rd November and holding our July sale in Towcester now on Friday 22nd July. Having spoken to the transporters they raised the question of the travelling distance to Yarmouth on what could potentially be a very hot July day. The vendors and transporters were looking forward to the Yarmouth sale but as a group we all feel it is best switching it to the autumn time.β
Corden continued, βWe have a busy few months coming up with 4 sales in 3 months now starting with Towcester on Friday 22nd July, then Sheffield on Wednesday 10th August followed by Oxford on Tuesday 6thSeptember before returning back to Towcester on Wednesday 5th October. Our Yarmouth sale will take place on Thursday 3rd November and then we will look to hold our final sale of 2022 in Oxford again early December.β

::DAVE LEVY LEAVES GBGB AFTER 13 YEARS:: Dave LevyThe Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) has announced the departure of Dave Levy who has been its Registrar since 2009. As Registrar, Dave has been responsible for ensuring all stadia and trainers are licensed and that every racing greyhound and owner are registered with GBGB. During his time in the registry office, Dave has worked closely with trainers, owners and racing offices helping them to adhere to GBGBβs Rules of Racing.
Dave has had a long association with greyhound racing having been involved in the sport for over 60 years. Before joining GBGB, Dave held a number of racing office roles at greyhound stadia β most notably Walthamstow Stadium.
Dave was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2021 and has been undergoing treatment. He is now in remission but has decided to take early retirement and relocate to the Essex coast to concentrate on his continued recovery.
GBGB CEO Mark Bird said of Daveβs leaving GBGB:
βItβs been an incredibly tough year for Dave and his wife, Denise, and indeed for the whole of his family. Dave has been an absolute tour de force and loyal servant of GBGB and more widely, for dog racing over many years. He has always demonstrated an enviable work ethic, normally being the first into the office and the last to leave, to ensure that registrations and licences were always dealt with expeditiously. Dave will be sorely missed by his work colleagues but equally he has many friends within the sport who will be keen to stay in touch. My considerable thanks to Dave for his service and we all within the sport wish him well as he continues to get better.β
Commenting on his departure, Dave Levy said:
βI would like to wholeheartedly thank everyone for their help and cooperation over the years. It was a pleasure and honour to work in such a wonderful industry alongside some fantastic people and most importantly the greyhounds themselves.β
Last week, GBGB was pleased to welcome back Tom Huntley as IT Services Manager. Tom briefly left the organisation last year but has returned to take up his role overseeing GBGBβs IT functions.
