FRIDAY 15-7-22
GAIN Nutrition Three Steps To Victory: Owlerton Stadium The GAIN Nutrition Three Steps To Victory, faced with possible postponement this year due to work being carried at Sheffield, will now go ahead after other tracks moved events to help accommodate.
GBGB today (Friday) announced that the tri-distance competition had been rescheduled, with the first round over 480m starting on Tuesday, October 11th, second round on the 18th over 500m, and the Β£10,000 to-the-winner decider run over 660m the following Tuesday (25th).
βIt was no easy task,β said Racing Operations Executive Scott Harvey,βbut thanks to the help, support and understanding of other tracks, we have found a way through that works for everyone.
βThe racing schedule becomes heavily congested in the latter part of the year and the Open Race Planning Committee faced a real challenge finding a suitable slot. With Sheffieldβs Steel City Puppy Cup now being pushed back to November, the only solution was to run the Three Steps mid-October, with goodwill prevailing and tracks accepting a clash with other competitions was unavoidable on this occasion.β
Andrew Mascarenhas, Sheffieldβs Director of Racing said: βIβm delighted that an alternative slot for the hugely successful and popular Gain Nutrition Three Steps To Victory has been found, and I would like to thank sponsor Sean Traynor for his patience, understanding and ongoing support of the track, while the process was completed.β
Harvey said he was also aware of other tracks looking to stage more open race competitions later in the year against an extremely busy backdrop, but that every consideration would be given to applications on an individual basis by the committee in line with the guidelines.
Sheffield will close for eight days for track work to be carried out following their meeting on Saturday, July 23.
