HARRISON OUT/DAVID MULLINS IN FOR JUDGEMENT NIGHT

Angela Harrison has withdrawn from Premier Greyhound Racing Judgement Night at Perry Barr on Thursday April 6. Her place in the event – which replaced the old ‘Trainers Championship Meeting’- will be taken by David Mullins.

Assistant Trainer Jimmy Wright said: “There are two reasons really. From a personal point of view I have been struggling with a few aches and pains lately which means I am having to step back a little bit.

“That won’t affect the kennel in any way, but we are aware that we don’t really have a team of dogs good enough to take part. The loss of (Move Over) Cha was a huge blow to us. He was a wonderful dog, still very young, and this was going to be his year.

“Some of the other dogs haven’t made up as well as we would like, and some might get there but are going to need longer to develop. (Coolavanny) Aunty has been suppressed but we have taken her off the pill and she will be retired as soon as she comes into season.

“So we are in a process of rebuilding. There is money in the bank to spend on good dogs but finding them isn’t that easy.”

David Mullins will join the field that includes Mark Wallis, Patrick Janssens, Kevin Hutton, Liz McNair, and his brother, John.

Trainer Liz McNair has withdrawn from the Premier Greyhound Racing Judgement Night meeting at Perry Barr.

Her place will be taken by Richard Rees.

DAVID MULLINS OUT


David Mullins has become the third trainer to withdraw from the Premier Greyhound Racing Judgement Night at Perry Barr in April citing ‘team issues’. His place will be taken by Matt Dartnall.

First reserve David was originally a replacement for Angela Harrison. Richard Rees has replaced Liz McNair.

Respected Perry Barr racing manager updates us on the forthcoming ‘Judgement Night’ at his home venue –

With the Premier Greyhound Racing Judgement Night fast approaching, preparations are well under way, and quite a few ‘heavyweights’ took the opportunity to limber up in trials before racing last night at Perry Barr. Track record holder and Winter Derby winner Coolavanny Shado stretched his legs in a solo, stopping the clock in 28.43 (-20), and clearly is right at home here. Multiple competition winner Fabulous Azurra continues her return from seasonal rest, and made every yard in her trial, recording a more than satisfactory 28.63 (-20). Romford specialist Hawkfield Mia was making her first visit to Perry Barr, and showed an immediate affinity for the place when flashing from traps and steering a middle/middle to wide course in 16.10 (-10). Steady rain had been falling throughout the trial session, and this was an excellent first look in the circumstances.

Matt Dartnall was quick off the mark to give a few of his charges a sighter in early March, and Barley Panther (28.45, -20), Droopys Ambush (28.42, -20) and Outdoor Ice (16.28, -10) all looked in tip top shape for the Staines handler.

Kevin Hutton, John Mullins and Richard Rees are visitors this coming Saturday evening, with defending champ Mark Wallis booked in for Thursday 30th.
