Steeling the Gymcrack.....
Sheffield have announced that they have taken over the title of the Gymcrack and will stage the event in place of their Steel City Puppy Derby.
Sheffield RM Andrew Mascarenhas said: “We are advised by Kinsley that they would be unable to commit to the Gymcrack this year. Given the prestige and history of the event, we decided to rename our new puppy competition.
“It will go ahead as planned in April with the prize money structure already promised. It simply means that Kinsley’s event for May has been cancelled.”

LINKS MAVERICK, fourth after a rough ride in last week’s Winter Derby final at Monmore, reappears in heats of a dual distance competition at Sheffield on Sunday.
The Tom Heilbron-trained star, a leading contender to be named 2023 Greyhound of the Year at next month’s GBGB Awards ceremony, has the Derby at Towcester as his main focus this year, with his Newcastle trainer saying: “He lost his chance after trouble at the start at Monmore but I liked the way he put his head down and chased the leaders home, which gives me confidence he’ll get the 500m at Towcester.
“I was delighted for the connections of the winner Churchfield Syd as he’s a brilliant dog who has returned from injury and been just as good as he was beforehand.
“All being well, plans for Maverick will include the Laurels at Perry Barr, while I thought this two-run Category Three at Sheffield would be ideal to keep him ticking over."

Maverick holds all the aces at Sheffield
BY DAVE CLARK
LINKS MAVERICK is the star name on show at Sheffield this afternoon and Tom Heilbron's multiple big-race champion can get back to winning ways at 3.57 live on PGR.
He endured a rough ride in the Winter Derby final at Monmore last weekend, but takes a significant drop in class today for his heat of the Owlerton Dual Distance and is fancied to bounce out of the boxes and make all over 480m.
Clearing Diane Henry's talented Savana Shay on the inside will prove crucial, but Links Maverick is a trappy and classy operator with the firepower to cut loose and go marching on into next week's final over 500m.
Henry sends a talented team to the Steel City venue and her Unreal Bruiser will prove tough to beat in the other heat at 4.17 after his impressive display at Towcester last time out.
He can get first run on kennelmate Burj Khalifa and Stephen Naylor's local hope Catunda Layla.
Henry's Savana Jackpot is the first of the strong fancies in the 11 opens on Sheffield's 12-race card, an exciting newcomer to the staying scene, he ran well in good company over 684m at Monmore recently and can assert early on in a maiden stayers over 660m at 2.39.
The Sheffield Stayers Trophy at 5.11 is one of the best races on the card, but is another contest fancied to go to a tracker hailing from Diane Henry's talented kennel.
St Leger semi-finalist Savana Heross crashed out of the Golden Jacket in the first round after missing the break, but has good form on his card over 660m at Sheffield and can turn in a menacing pitch.
Barrie Draper's Pear Drops caught the eye staying on at Monmore over 630m last time and is must for forecast and tricast punters to include.
Acomb Alfie is winless in five starts, but the final open race at 5.29 is a very winnable opportunity for Kevin Ferguson's British bred speedster.
He can wrestle the inside rail away from Are Malikan at the opening turn before drawing away down the far side.
