Tyrur Sugar Ray pleases as Kisses clocks 28.19 JIM CREMIN AND JONATHAN KAY 17 MAY 2013 TYRUR SUGAR RAY on Friday night clocked 28.59sec in his first sight of Wimbledon, a 480m solo, walking out of the boxes but taking off from the second bend. His sectional was a pedestrian 5.05sec. He ran the track notably well, railing. P J Fahy, owner trainer and accompanied by his son and assistant Conor, said: "It's a long way - he was in the van eleven hours - but Sugar Ray is fine. That was pleasing, he will go better next time and we'll seek to bring back him for another spin next Saturday . . . and then we'd see about stopping over. Let's take one step at a time." Tyrur Sugar Ray was runner-up in last Saturday's Ladbrokes 600 at Shelbourne, running an eye-catching race in defeat. Kisses For Cloda, a finalist in March's Kirby Puppy Memorial at Limerick, confirmed the favourable impression he has made when recording 28.19sec in winning a trial by nearly eight lengths, flying out to a 4.74 sectional and running rails to middle. Trainer Paul Donovan said: "That's fantastic, it's straight to the Derby for him now." There was also a very taking trial from Richard Rees’s unraced November 2011 youngster Miss Mutley who made all to beat Hilcroft Joe, an open winner at Monmore last month, by just over a length in 28.79sec. Meanwhile, Kevin Hennessy, during a very well received guest performance on Racing Post Greyhound TV, revealed that father Paul’s William Hill Derby team is set to be boosted by the addition of last week’s Ladbrokes 600 winner Ringtown Snowy to the travelling party. He said: “We weren’t originally going to go with Ringtown Snowy but he’s come out of the race brilliant, he’s got his free entry [earned for the 600 victory] and when you win a stake like that it’s very hard to say no especially for a big competition like the English Derby. You don’t get a second chance.” However, Hennessy also said that Barefoot Allstar, last year’s Scottish Derby champion, is still feeling his way back from the monkey muscle injury suffered at Limerick in March. *The William Hill Derby closes to entries at noon on Wednesday, the draw is 1pm Sunday week, with the first round Friday May 31 and Saturday June 1. Crayford opens feature on RPGTV tonight -RACING Post Greyhound TV goes on air from 7.15pm (Sky channel 212, Freesat 401 and streamed free at www.racingpost.com/greyhounds/tv.sd plus partner websites) for 12-race cards at Crayford (two opens) and Newcastle.
In addition to the Crayford opens (8.34 and 9.24), the RPGTV Flying Four is completed by graded action over four (8.18) and eight bends (9.56) at the Kent track, while Newcastle's fixture features no fewer than four A1s.
Tonight's show is presented by Darrell Williams who be joined in the studio by the Racing Post's Jonathan Kay in addition to syndicate organiser Paul Tuscon who found a 25-1 winner on his previous RPGTV appearance.
Viewers can contact the show by emailing rpgtv@racingpost.com or tweeting @rpgreyhounds. Check back here from 6pm onwards for details of Jonathan Kay's nap and next best selections plus trap challenge and other betting news.

Crossfield the call in classy Crayford contest JONATHAN KAY 3:46PM 17 MAY 2013 CROSSFIELD JACK ran really well when ultimately finishing a close third behind classy Ryves Rock in an Owners' Bonus Series final at the track last week and Ian Stevens's charge will not need produce much more to take Crayford's A1 over 380m tonight (8.18).
Clearly there is never much margin for error at the start in this sort of race and the selection will need to look lively at traps-rise but he can lead round if coming away well and make the morning odds seem generous.
Kellystown Andy was ultimately no match for Lenson Johnny over the course and distance two weeks ago but Julie Luckhurst's dog can take advantage of an apparently easier opportunity to take the 8.34 over 380m hurdles.
He has early pace in abundance and can lead the charge in a contest where the majority of the field are seen to best advantage when able to dominate themselves.
Next up for the Flying Four is a 714m open at 9.24 where last week's winner Pony Bride can again prove strongest. Steve Gammon's bitch was beaten by reopposing Airforce Harlem on May 4 but had excuses then and can weave through to lead when it matters this time.
Patsy Cusack's Hot Foot Harry was outstayed by Nashers Lass in his only previous 714m appearance but looks overpriced to hold on this time when the pair clash again at 9.56.
Hills are betting on the Flying Four. They go: 7-4 no winners, 10-11 one winner, 10-3 two winners, 16-1 three winners and 300-1 four winners.
Recommendations Crossfield Jack 8.18 Crayford Kellystown Andy 8.34 Crayford Pony Bride 9.24 Crayford Hotfoot Harry 9.56 Crayford

William Hill Derby Opening rounds LIVE! onRPGTV------------------------Hennessy to hit ground running with a hat-trick JONATHAN KAY 3:55PM 17 MAY 2013 MONEY TALKS can spearhead a treble for Irish trainer Paul Hennessy with victory in the first of six William Hill Greyhound Derby trial stakes over 480m at Wimbledon tonight (8.00) to further underline the potential strong challenge coming from that direction this year.He has kept top company in Ireland with an early career highlight being victory in last year's Lee Strand 550 at Tralee and has taken well to Wimbledon in a couple of sprint trials. Breaking from the inside draw may be an issue, but he is preferred to Bonamassa Rocks and Killieford Deal all the same.Priceless Rumble is the next Hennessy runner to go at 8.15 and he gets a tentative vote, while Irish Leger runner-up Priceless Sky looks well worth an interest for the 8.45, where the presence of Alien Planet should help shore up his price.Alien Planet won a similar event two weeks ago and was arguably unlucky behind King Bradley last time, but Priceless Sky may have the kick on him in the early pace department.Shaneboy Spencer is thus far one of the lesser-heralded members of Liz McNair's Derby team, but all that could change after 8.30 where he will be tough to beat on recent Romford trial evidence, even allowing for the presence of speedy Fermoy Henry on his inside.Open Check nap Priceless Sky 8.45 Wimbledon Read the full column in Saturday's Racing Post

William Hill Derby Opening rounds LIVE! onRPGTVDerby latest and trials before racing Saturday
Eden Star: 28.55 trial before racing Saturday, one spot off Ballymac Vic
8.00 Division H
1st Bonamassa Rocks trap 2 28.43sec two and a quarter lengths 2nd Money Talks trap 1 three and three quarters 3rd Courts Ad Stanly trap 3
Bonamassa Rocks won this impressively for David Mullins and The Greyhound Club, showing a good burst of pace up, barging Courts Ad Stanly out of the way and then kicked clear out of the second turn. Money Talks ran on well after a slow break. Killieford Deal walked out.
8.15 Division O
1st Priceless Rumble trap 6 28.77sec five and a half lengths 2nd Bowtime Reagan trap 3 length and a half 3rd Britania Arbeg trap 1
Ireland's Priceless Rumble put this to bed in decisive fashion, showing a nice burst of pace to go clear on the run-up. Bowtime Regan also had the early to turn second, tiring on the run in. Britania Ardbeg held his position on the rails, and was always third. The others were all baulked at the bend, Farloe Luigi had been slow away.
8.30 Division U
1st Shaneboy Spencer trap 2 28.89sec length and a quarter 2nd Fermoy Henry trap 1 two and a quarter lengths 3rd Fridays Dynamo trap 6
This was a bunched affair so don't worry too much about the time. The inside runners crowded early, while Zena Elena screwed wide from four out of the boxes and held up the Shaneboy Silas (badly) and Fridays Dynamo. The latter showed the best early to take them along to the third before tiring. Liz McMair's Shaneboy Spencer, railing neatly, kicked on. Fermoy Henry also showed good early but was crowded several times. Ladbrokes Star dropped out at the second bend.
8.45 Division N
1st Priceless Sky trap 1 28.52sec seven lengths 2nd Alien Planet trap 3 head 3rd Swords Jacko trap 2
Priceless Sky made it a double for Paul Hennessy, and looked the part too, racing clear early and comprehensively beating Cluxtons Free for pace. Bunching behind on the run in made the winning distance even further, but it still looked a good effort from a 'proper' dog. Alien Planet turned left from three, clobbering Swords Jacko, but then showed all round pace. Droooys Marino took a crashing fall at the bend, happily he picked himself up and completed the course.
9.00 Division D
1st Zoo Caprice trap 6 28.92sec half length 2nd Be Real trap 1 half length 3rd Britania Richard trap 2
Another bunched race, and a thriller producing a local winner in Richard Rees's Zoos Caprice. Be Real challenged from the third. Sherrys Rebound was there throughout until tiring off the last. Slipperys Joey and Keeping An Edge collided at the boxes. Britania Richard challenged off the last.
9.15 Division S
1st Lemon Pluto trap 2 28.61sec four and a quarter lengths 2nd Frisby Barney trap 1 four and a half lengths 3rd Zenas Boy trap 5
This was clinical and impressive, Lemon Pluto bounding out ahead and drawing away. Tulligoline ran off at the bend, bumping Clonad Girl.
Wimbledon reporting resumes at trials on Wednesday morning.
**John Gardner reports himself pleased by a 25.6sec 428m Henlow trial by Coolavanny Bert - a finalist last year. He appears sounds and a return Derby bid remains on.
BALLYMAC VIC was fastest of the 18 William Hill Derby hopefuls that trialled before racing on Saturday night at Wimbledon, but only by one spot compared to Barrie Draper's Eden Star.
Ballymac Vic clocked 28.54sec (sectional 4.77), Eden Star 28.55sec (4.82sec). Fastest sectional was the 4.73 from Charlie Lister's Sidaz Jack, who went on to clock 28.88sec. The track looked markedly slower than Friday night, having been heavily watered beforehand.
One trainer said: "It's in good shape but looks likely to speed up later."
Liam Dowling, owner/breeder/trainer of Ballymac Vic, dashing off to catch the ferry home to Ireland, confirmed: "He will run in the Derby. We've been pleased with both his trials, and he seems to be both coming away and running the track well. I thought he might have a cramped a bit tonight, but it will have done him the power of good - and he won't run again now until the first round. We will probably return a couple of days beforehand."
The Drapers were also thrilled with the run of Eden Star, Barrie saying: "He looked back to his best and must not be underestimated."
See Monday's Racing Post for a Derby Countdown piece on Eden Star.
Wimbledon now have 65 names in the book for the William Hill Derby - which closes to entries at noon on Wednesday. It seems reasonable to expect a similar number of nominations to emerge in these final few days, so the field is likely to end up at around 130-140.
Graham Holland is the latest Irish trainer to change tack about coming for the Classic - and he is expected to trial a three or four runners next week, including Holborn Junior, an unlucky elimination from the semis of the Red Mills Produce at Clonmel.
Wimbledon is already full for trials before racing next Friday and Saturday; places for Wednesday's session may still be secured by ringing first thing Monday morning.
All run in tonight's six trial stakes; later non-runner 9.45pm Clash Paddymac, withdrawn lame, four runner race, traps 2 and 5 vacant.

Sunday 19th May
JK's at Coventry tonight with his roving mic RACING Post Greyhound TV goes on air from 6.15pm (Sky channel 212, Freesat 401 and streamed free at www.racingpost.com/greyhounds/tv.sd plus partner websites) for a 12-race card at Coventry (all opens).
Feature of the meeting is the £1,000 final of the Best Champagne Stayers Trophy over 672m at 8.30 which forms part of the RPGTV Flying Four along with the three heats of the Holystone Elf Puppy Cup over 450m (7.15, 7.45 and 8.15) with Gymcrack winner Young Golden in action in the first of them.
Perhaps one of the most interesting runners on the card is the Mark Wallis-trained Bridge Honcho in the 8.45 over 485m as he makes his comeback from a broken hock having dipped comfortably inside the track record for this trip in a trial last week.
The show is presented by Jason Barrasford, who will be joined in the studio by the Racing Post's Jonathan Hobbs while Jonathan Kay will be live at Coventry to bring news and reaction from there.
Check back at 5pm for details of Jonathan Hobbs’s nap and next best selections plus betting news from our partner firms.

Diop best bet for another Champagne display
OPEN CHECK by JONATHAN KAY
DROOPYS DIOP has found the winning knack over the course and distance, and Jim Watts’s dog can follow up last month’s competition success at the track with victory in the £1,000 final of the Best Champagne Stayers Trophy over 672m at Coventry tonight (8.30, live on Racing Post Greyhound TV).
He has won three in a row here and it will be a surprise if he does not stretch that to four, having battled to the front in the heats a week ago and then gone on to record the fastest heat time.
Set for a clear run early on the outside, he can turn handy and then allow his superb middle pace to again prove the decisive factor. Strong-running Calzaghe Lilly can come through late to fill the forecast position.
Three heats of the Holystone Elf Puppy Cup are covered in the RPGTV Flying Four preview, with the suggestions being Calzaghe Jack (7.15), Extreme Lad (7.45) and Borna Giovanni (8.15).
The open-race day gets under way early with six such contests at Hove’s matinee Bags meeting highlighted by the appearance of Droopys Loner in the 12.12 over 285m.
Dean Childs’s bitch is yet to win over two bends but this is only her third attempt in that sphere and she can score at the main expense of Guinness Sky.

Ted Soppitt’s dog might ultimately prove a yard short to the bend in top company although he is certainly capable of excellent all-round performances and a reasonable break here can see him hold his pitch to the bend before opening up along the back stretch. EXTREME LAD has been unable to build on his April 14 course and distance victory but Mark Wallis’s dog has an excellent chance to do so in the 7.45 where a good break from a middle draw can soon see him in a race-winning position. George Stark makes the long trip from Shawfield with four runners and BORNA GIOVANNI can make the journey worthwhile by taking the 8.15 having run a race full of promise on debut at his home track on Scottish Derby night. He lacks course knowledge but shapes as though the inside draw will most definitely suit. In the featured stayers’ final over 672m at 8.30, it is hard to get away from the claims of Jim Watts’s fastest heat winner DROOPYS DIOP, who may not have the prettiest action in the world but certainly uses it to full effect. Hills are betting on the Flying Four and go: 4-1 no winners, evens one winner, 7-4 two winners, 8-1 three winners and 150-1 four winners. Flying 4

( Jack and Johnnys both win @5/4 got 2/1 Johnny) Kisses For Cloda sadly misses Derby with injury
Opening rounds Live! on RPGTV
Gloom for Wimbledon trainer Paul Donovan over Kisses For Cloda KISSES FOR CLODA misses the William Hill Derby after sustaining a hock injury. His dejected trainer Paul Donovan said on Sunday: "On Friday night we were ecstastic when he did a 28.19sec trial, but that didn't last long. "He was a bit sore later, and now there's no doubt, this morning the hock is definitely swollen - he goes for an x-ray on Monday. It's not clear the extent of the problem, he is a young dog and should be able to come back, but what is certain is that he can't run in the Derby." A finalist in March's Kirby Puppy Memorial at Limerick, Ireland's richest puppy event, he is named after young Clodagh Butler; the Butler family had sent him to Donovan for a tilt at the Derby. He had impressed through the Kirby Memorial, and his trials at Wimbledon stamped him as something special. *Paul Young also reports Aero Joseph lame after his race there on Saturday, Got a smartphone? Get our new, free Greyhound Bet app for Apple, Android and for most other smartphones our mobile site. ------------------------------------------- Monday Column: Britain Rocks with talent too!
F you build it, they will come. Well we are all still waiting news of the long-term prospects of any Wimbledon redevelopment, whether that be by Paschal Taggart and a greyhound stadium or otherwise, but William Hill’s dangling of a £150,000 Derby carrot has certainly got greyhound folk flocking to Plough Lane. The Irish, in particular, have risen to the challenge and barely a day goes by without another leading handler throwing his hat into the ring Graham Holland, English by birth but now established in Ireland, just the latest. Indeed, you could be forgiven for thinking it is Ballymac Eske (pictured above) versus a whole country if you look at the ante-post lists. Barrie Draper’s superstar still stands in majestic single-figure isolation at the head of the market but the might of Ireland is stacked up behind him. Two winners and a second for Paul Hennessy in Saturday’s final batch of trial stakes might also been seen as a portent of what’s to come, but the meeting also served as a timely reminder that Britain has talent too. Firstly the fastest time of the night came from David Mullins’ Bonamassa Rocks in the opener as he came home more than two lengths to the good of Hennessy’s slow-starting Money Talks. Mullins has never hidden how highly he rates the home-bred and during the week told me that he was not concerned with a trial time he had recorded at Wimbledon last week, more that the performance was good on the eye – with going conditions traditionally showing subtle fluctuations race-by-race at the track these days that is probably a good point to bear in mind going forward . . . For the remainder of Jonathan Kay's Monday Column, and much,
much more make sure you pick up your Racing Post.
