Champ is back on track at Hove this Thursday YOUR A CHAMP, Ken Tester's popular bitch who has won 11 sprint opens in a row at Hove stretching back to last December, clocked 16.49sec (normal) in a 285m trial at the track yesterday and returns to action there on Thursday. She has been sidelined since her latest win on April 4 due to a corn, but moved well in her comeback workout at a session where the joint-fastest time of 16.46sec was clocked by one of her rivals this week, Kingsmill Super. RPGreyhounds @rpgreyhounds 4hRound-up/Romford draw for Friday's RPGTV final: tinyurl.com/q757ssr Jaytee Hellcat is our countdown dog in Tuesday's paper @racingpost=============================No Sensation in William Hill derby- SAWPIT SENSATION confirmed his enthusiasm for Nottingham when sweeping to a comfortable victory in the final of the Grolsch Standard Trophy over 500m on Monday night, using his draw in trap six to good effect when kicking clear of first bend crowding as the field turned down the back. It was race over and Dave Hunt's Betfred Eclipse champion came home two and a half lengths clear of Scene Setter in 29.82sec. Sawpit Sensation will not be appearing in the list of entries for the William Hill Derby when the Classic closes at noon on Wednesday. Hunt, after much agonising, decided his dog requires 500m-plus to be seen to be best effect. The Betfred Select Stakes on Tuesday July 30 is his main target. Nottingham's 500m one-off is worth £7,500 to the winner. Last year a Press panel made him only a reserve, although he subsequently got a chance to run. This time he seems guaranteed to be one of the first on the list. Dreams Of Glory was fastest in the heats for the supporting Grolsch Sprint over 305m, clocking 17.48sec Look out for the £500 final next Monday. Before that, and live on RPGTV on Friday, will be the £750 final of the Coral On TV Puppy Trophy over Romford's 400m. Seamus Cahill's Droopys Quincy pinged in Monday's heats (3.51 sectional) when making all in 23.97sec. Other winners were locals Brookside Ace (24.00sec) and I Am Speed (24.44sec). Friday's draw: 1 Lorrainecoco 2 Brookside Ace 3 I Am Speed (m) 4 Droopys Quincy (m) 5 Polar Sean (m) 6 Clune Ranger (m) Got a smartphone? Cormac the call in Coventry sprint final BY JONATHAN KAY NADURRA CORMAC arguably has the most scope of any of the finalists and John McLachlan's Scottish raider is fancied to prove the point with victory in Coventry's 9.32 over 263m tonight. Record-breaking Southview Ace was marginally quicker in the heats a week ago but that was a career effort while the selection has been on an upward curve and can capitalise on an ideal draw in six by cracking out and making all. Andlyns Asabat arguably has the best overall profile but a draw in four gives him no margin for error and it might just prove too much a handicap for him to overcome. The other Flying Four races are the heats of a 485m event with Caro;l Weatherall's Stravita looking overpriced for the first at 7.39 on the basis that she can lead and tough it out from the front. Chris Allsopp's Fifis Flyer, a good top grade winner at Monmore earlier in the month, looks solid in the 8.10 having subsequently trialled well here and then pulled the inside draw. Unique Woe lost all chance when stumbling at the start at Sittingbourne on Sunday but Kelly Findlay's dog had been in consistent form prior to that and looks the likeliest winner of the 8.58. Hills are betting on the number of winners for the Flying Four and go: 2-1 none, 10-11 one, 11-4 two, 14-1 three, 200-1 four. Recommendations:
Stravita 7.39 Coventry Fifis Flyer 8.10 Coventry Unique Woe 8.58 Coventry Nadurra Cormac 9.32 Coventry Got a smartphone? Get our new, free Greyhound Bet app for Apple, Android and for most other smartphones our mobile site

The smart money should be on Bid to bounce back BY JONATHAN KAY 2:32PM 22 MAY 2013 SMART BID has not yet hit the heights of his 2012 campaign this year but Chris Allsopp's dog has shown more encouraging signs of late and appeals in Monmore's 7.39 over 480m tonight. Runner-up in both the Pall Mall and Trafalgar Cup at Oxford last year, the selection is one from eight since returning from a lay-off but performed creditably in a dual distance competition at Nottingham recently and has a good chance to dominate from the outset here. Trap one could also provide the winner of the other heat of this minor competition at 7.54 in the shape of Corren Price's Swan Storm despite him stepping up from A2 company. His latest efforts against still-useful Farloe Mysterio in both victory and defeat read pretty well and he has a draw advantage over Nefan, one of the main threats along with class-dropping Borna Hiker. The other Flying Four races come at Hove starting with the 9.24 over 515m in which it may pay to take on Tibetan Skies on the basis that he is flanked by pace with the suggestion being last month's course and distance winner Jaytee Swaby from the Paul Young kennel. He should find this less demanding than when in against live Derby prospect Priceless Sky in a trial stakes at Wimbledon last weekend. Hove's 10.11 over 695m looks almost a two-runner affair with Dean Childs's top-class Regency runner-up Musical Gaga preferred to Bouncy Bocko, unlucky behind Beanos Kenny last week and capable of reversing that form with a still-respected rival. Hills are betting on the number of winners for the Flying Four and go: 5-2 none, 5-6 one. 5-2 two, 14-1 three and 250-1 that all four selections oblige. Recommendations Smart Bid 7.39 Monmore Swan Storm 7.54 Monmore Jaytee Swaby 9.24 Hove Musical Gaga 10.11 HoveGot a smartphone? -------------------------------- Minor has major chance despite generous odds BY JONATHAN KAY Racing Post MINOR MAEVE has mixed it with some of the best of late and Derek Knight's bitch looks over-priced for Romford's 750m finale at 10.40 as a result. She made things tough for no less than Ballymac Swift in a Coventry marathon last month and her previous appearance over this course and distance saw her finish an honourable second to Aero Rebel. Hometown Honey, in particular, is a worthy rival but Minor Maeve's prospects look to have been underestimated as she is capable of getting involved in any race she contests. The Flying Four kicks off with Romford's 400m puppy final at 9.24 in which it is very hard to get away from the claims of Seamus Cahill's Droopys Quincy even though that is reflected in the price. He should quickly race clear. The 10.11 over 400m brings together a number of prolific winners and it is very competitive as a result but preference is for Ernie Gaskin's Nans Turbo who is capable of beating Millstreet Lar and Sharons Return in the all-important dash to the bend. Ayamzabeauty dominates the market for the 10.26 over 575m after an excellent Regency campaign at Hove on the back of a sub-35sec win here, but she is short enough given a relatively patchy win record and Jim Reynolds's consistent Swift Missile is a viable alternative. Hills are betting on the Flying Four and go: 11-4 no winners, 4-5 one winner, 5-2 two winners, 12-1 three winners and 150-1 that all four selections oblige. Selections Droopys Quincy 9.24 Romford Nans Turbo 10.11 Romford Swift Missile 10.26 Romford Minor Maeve 10.40 RomfordGot a smartphone? - Quincy looking quids-in for Romford showdown BY JONATHAN KAY Racing Post DROOPYS QUINCY boasts fantastic early pace and can dominate from the front to land the £750 final of the Coral on TV Puppy Trophy over 400m at Romford tonight (9.24). Seamus Cahill's dog was only marginally quicker overall than Brookside Ace in the fastest two of Monday's three heats but significantly so compared to that rival on sectional. Martyn Wiley's Billymatt made a successful return to his home track last week and it should be more of the same in the 8.18 over 225m, while other local fancies are Shaneboy Ozzy (9.06), Head Iton Tom (9.56), Nans Turbo (10.11), Cos I Can (9.40) and Swift Missile (10.26). Best bet of the night is in the 10.40 where Minor Maeve is capable of causing an upset. She has a good all-round game. Open Check nap Minor Maeve 10.40 Romford
