TAKEN FROM THE RACINGPOST.COMAirlie Impact had a trial over Nottingham's 500m on Monday Impact goes on trial as Select Stakes draws nearINTEREST in the Betfred Select Stakes is hotting up with seven names now in the book for the £7,500 contest over 500m at Nottingham on July 30 ahead of this Friday’s Greyhound Writers’ Association meeting to consider the invitations.
Connections have until 11am on Thursday to nominate runners and names put forward so far are Airlie Impact, Alien Planet, Hather George, Holdem Spy, Mags Gamble, Sawpit Sensation and Screen Critic.
Airlie Impact, runner-up to Sidaz Jack in the William Hill Greyhound Derby, began a possible Select Stakes preparation on Monday night when clocking 30.04sec in a solo over the 500m trip at Nottingham with trainer Paul Young having pencilled in a further workout next Monday.

UNCONFIRMED REPORTS are saying that last years Belle Vue Owners Northern Flat Championship winner Alien Planet has been badly injured this evening at Nottingham in the Betfredtv Standard Trophy final and his racing future looks in serious doubt.

MONDAY 22-7-13Elaine Parker: pleased with Droopys Pride's winDroopys Pride warms up for the Select with winDROOPYS PRIDE warmed up for the Betfred Select Stakes with a convincing 29.69sec win over the course at Nottingham this evening.
Elaine Parker's dog went up fast, led at the turn, and then drew clear for a two lenghts win over Glanpadden Bolt,Castlelyons Cofi took third,
Droopys Pride replaces Sawpit Sensation in the big race next Tuesday after the latter was withdrawn on Monday.
Four other Select Stakes hopefuls went round in trials before racing.
Derby runner-up Airlie Impact was marginally quickest over the 500m course with Paul Young’s dog recording 29.74sec in a solo trial, just three spots quicker than the 29.77sec of Charlie Lister’s Three Steps To Victory champion Hather George. Kev Hutton’s Derby and Arc finalist Screen Critic recorded 29.92sec.
Daddy Knowsbest, Chris Allsopp’s record-breaking winner of the Golden Crest at Poole, covered the 305m course in 17.89sec.
Holdem Spy, who completes the Select field, is due to have a 500m trial before racing at Tuesday's Bags fixture at Nottingham.
Calzaghe Lilly, Ted Soppitt’s Sunderland Grand Prix dead-heater, posted a very smart 29.81sec over 500m while fellow potential Select Stayers contenders Dural Bound (Maxine Locke) and Afew Dollarsmore (Chris Allsopp) covered the 305m course in 18.11sec and 18.14sec respectively.
Mags Gamble, Harry Williams's Select Stakes reserve, was beaten a head by kennelmate Hadrians Wall over 500m, the winner clocking 29.90sec.
Musical Gaga, Dean Childs’s Dorando Marathon winner, clocked 44.75sec (normal) in a 730m solo ahead of the Betfred Select Stayers Stakes which supports the Select. The fastest time of the year to date is 44.70sec by Freedom Cache on June 10.
The Select Stakes draw, and also that for the Select Stayers Stakes over 730m the same night which closes to entries at 11am on Thursday, will be made live on BetfredTV at around 11.15 on Friday morning.
