YES there was a much better attendance than the normal Sunday morning meeting.

At a guess I would say no more than 60 people and that's including trainers and staff.

Race 3 Grade A7 Time 28.84
Tyrur Lucas, 5/2 to 2s, failed to follow up last week's impressive win after leading the bend. He only led to the halfway mark where the slow starting Thornfield Rita, backed by the Offices from 7/2 to 9/4, challenged before taking the lead near the third bend. Lucas finished one paced third.

Race 4 Grade A1 Time 28.22
Rei Doms Cantona, 9/4 to 2s, failed to lead the bend despite a level break and, given his current form, this meant defeat. He finished third.

Race 6 Grade A8 Time 29.39
Sizzling Champ, evens to 4/5, couldn't justify the short odds here. A slow start wasn't completely unexpected but when his more early paced rivals started well the Champ's reward for pacing to the bend was the BIG E. He ran on to finish second from last place at the second bend.

Race 7 Grade A2 Time 28.19
Office money for Jamestown Duke, 9/4 to 7/4, who took an early lead to the third bend before re-taking the lead on the run in in a game effort.

Race 8 Grade A3 Time 28.16
Office support for Nite Runner, 5/2 to 7/4, who trapped fast but was bumped at the first bend and finished a well beaten fifth. Dotland Warrior, 4s to 3s, made his usual slow start before finishing third after showing pace to the third bend.

Race 11 Grade A4 Time 28.61
Kahara Jack was backed by the Offices from 5/2 to 9/4, After missing the break he came out of the second bend in third place and stayed there to the line. Efceeunited, 3s to 5/2, finished poor last following a poor start and a second bend crowd. He also checked at the third and was never a factor.

Finally an apology to those hard working and knowledgeable chaps in the Racing Office. Several months ago Precious took them to task for not knowing that Belle Vue had produced two Derby winners. This was in answer to their weekly trivia quiz. Today's quiz was about Myrtown, one of the great dogs of the past who was trained at White City by Eddie Moore. It occurred to me that one of the dogs I had credited with winning the Derby for Belle Vue was Balliniska Band who was also trained by Eddie Moore. How could Precious have doubted them?

Race 1 Grade A9 Time 29.16
Mad Mad Miss, 8s to 5s, took so long to build up racing pace she was back in fifth place and out of contention by the second bend. A first bend crowd didn't help matters and neither did a third bend crowd. She finished a well held fourth.

Race 2 Grade S4 Time 35.95
The winning time on normal going for an S4  must have surely tested the patience of the Stewards and it did little for supporters of Grandads Jet, 3s to 11/4, who turned fourth dog following a first bend nudge. He loped on to finish in that placing.

Race 3 Grade A8 Time 29.12
Late money for Tyrur Hernandez, 7/2 to 3s, proved spot on as the dog led from the first for an overdue win. The performance of Horseleap Dan, 4s to 2s, was surely too bad to be true. A slow start combined with little early saw him at the back before the first bend. He finished last following a third bend biff when trying to marginally improve his position.

Race 4 Grade OR Time 27.68
Glenesker, 16s to 10s, stumbled at traps and finished last.

Race 5 Grade A7 Time 28.69
A slow start followed by plenty of early saw Tyrur John Paul, 6/4 to evens, turn second. He paced up to the leader at the third, ran off wide and then ran on to lead near the line.

Race 6 Grade OR Time 35.74
Tambourine Man, 5/4 to evens, showed his stamina and determination here to lead on the run in after turning fourth following a first bend crowd. It was rumoured that David Moyes had tried to buy the dog after the race for £200 . He's no idea! A very nice debut for Slaneyside Baron, 8s to 7s, who trapped best and led the bend until the run in. He finished second.

Race 8 Grade A6 Time 28.85
Dismay for market mover instigators. Bardalino Bay, 2s to 7/4, stumbled at the start and finished fifth. Tyrur Peggy, 7/2 to 3s, missed the break and then ran very wide at the second bend before turning third. She made no progress, her wide running didn't help at all and she finished last.

Race 9 Grade A4 Time 28.28
A very impressive win from Adamant Leo, 10/11 to 4/5. Following a slow start he ran a middle course at the bend and turned in fourth place before producing a spectacular burst of pace to go clear at the third bend. He's had five races now and has yet to meet trouble in a race. Tudor Star, 8s to 11/2, led the bend until the third where she was easily passed. She was then crowded at the fourth and finished last.

Race 10 Grade S1 Time 35.81
Graigues Rolla, 3s to 11/4, led from the first bend until the sixth and finished a one paced third. Clonteen Cookie, 5s to 3s, missed the break and was crowded at the first bend. She turned third dog and kept on well to finish a creditable second.

Race 11 Grade A2 Time 28.26
Express Trish, 2s to 6/4, led the bend until collared by the winner at the last bend. She finished second. Chesters Nikita, 7/2 to 3s, had every chance. She turned in fourth place and stayed there to the line.

Race 12 Grade A1 Time 27.91
Another top class performance from the unbacked winner. Three were backed to beat her. Proud Darkie, 7s to 6s, ran quite well to finish second after running from a box which doesn't suit. He moved across at traps from the Five box and crowded with Slaneyside Moira, 7s to 6s, and both pursued the winner to the bend. Darkie managed to turn in second place with Moira in third. The latter made no progress and was forced to check at the third bend. She finished last. Aranock Solo, backed at 11/8 finished a one paced fourth hving had every chance.

Tonight, fast going with the track bowsered before Races 4 and 10. The Great Thompsoni has a three timer.

Race 2 Grade A7 Time 28.47
McGahons Magic, 11/4 to 9/4, ran on well after turning third dog to finish a close second.

Race 3 Grade A8 Time 28.98
5/4 looked plenty short enough for a dog who more than occasionally throws in a slow start and runs very wide. However punters backed the dog, Tyrur Jackson, down to 4/5. He started slowly and, after running very wide round the first two bends,  turned in second place. He put in a challenge at the third bend and then ran very wide again before finishing fourth.

Race 4 Grade A6 Time 28.34
Stevie Tease, backed at 7/4, turned second and led at halfway for a decisive win. The badly drawn Barbican Bullet, 3s to 5/2, was buffeted to the bend when he tried to move to the middle and then he was crowded at the first bend. He finished fourth.

Race 5 Grade S2 Time 35.55
The well graded Redstone Brenos, 5/2 to 7/4, made short work of these after leading at the second bend. The slow starting Zulu Hondo, 7/2 to 11/4, was well out of contention by the second bend after running wide at the second bend following a bump. He finished fourth. 

Race 6 Grade A5 Time 28.18
Big Lilly, backed at 5/4, soon led following a decent start and won comfortably after running on well. Stack Rock, 9/2 to 4s, trapped best and held second place to the second bend. He was making no progress when crowded at the third bend and he finished third.

Race 7 Grade A2 Time 28.03
Get Home Mikey, backed at 5/2, was well placed between bends on and two when he was crowded by Followthe Master, backed at 5s. The winner slipped clear and Mikey kept on to finish second with Master finishing last. Aero Apollo, 3s to 11/4, missed the break and checked to his left at traps. He was never a contender after turning in last place and finished fifth.

Race 8 Grade A4 Time 28.34
Josies Love, 7/2 to 6/4, didn't have the early to secure a position and was bumped back to fifth place at the bend. She stayed on for second with the winner taking a more economical route round the track. Drumcrow Lacey, 7/2 to 3s, held third place from the second to the third bends and finished fourth.

Race 9 Grade A5 Time 28.54
Troublesome teddy, backed at 4s, was a very unlucky loser. He was badly away but found the pace to put in a challenge at the third bend where he appeared to be going best of all before getting the BIG E. He finished fourth. Swift Bedington, 7s to 5s, failed to secure a position on the run to the bend and following a bump fund himself back in last place. He missed the third bend crowd and stayed on to finish second.

Race 10 Grade A3 Time 28.12
Blokade Rosie, 2s to 7/4, led on the run up and held on well for victory. Kilkenny Henry, 7/2 to 3s, trapped well but was immediately crowded. He managed to secure second place from the second to the last bend before losing his place and finishing fourth.

Race 11 Grade A1 Time 27.82
Datona Duke, 5s to 4s, showed very impressive early pace to race clear on the run up. He appeared to move wide at the second bend and lose his momentum. He led to halfway where Keiths Flyer, 5/2 to 2s raced past and then clear. He had run the bend impressively following a slow start. Duke finished fifth.
